Town Mayor praises businesses for eye-catching Christmas window displays

The Beauty Skin and Eyelash Lounge in Station Road, Epping, has won Epping Town Council's Audrey Rose Cup for the best Christmas window display for the second successive year.

Runners-up were Todd Sloane and Epping Shoe Repairs where long-time customer Sheila Aitken had knitted the outfits for the shoe repairers busily working away in the shop window!

The Beauty Skin and Eyelash Lounge owner Natalie Williamson, who received the cup and a certificate from Town Mayor Les Burrows at the official opening of the Christmas Market in the High Street on Friday afternoon, said: "It's great to win again. We are over the moon. We didn't expect to win it again."

Councillor Burrows also presented runners-up certificates to Todd Sloane owner Amanda Emery and engraver Grant Brown and shoe repairer Rob Young at Epping Shoe Repairs.

Councillor Burrows said: "Once again the businesses in Epping have taken great effort in decorating their shop windows and bringing Christmas cheer to the town for the festive season.

"I would like to thank all of those who spent many hours coming up with their eye-catching themes for their window displays and would especially like to congratulate the winner and runners-up for ensuring that Epping looks especially festive this Christmas."

Councillor Burrows also officially opened the Christmas Tree Festival at St John's Church.

The festival, with dozens of trees decorated and sponsored by local businesses, schools and charities, continues today (Saturday), Sunday and Monday.

Proceeds from the festival will go to The Heart of Epping Appeal, Epping Reuse Centre and BIBIC children’s charity.
