It’s been quite the month. We had a great tour at NREL’s ESIF and have found ourselves at the beginning of a potentially very different and more difficult road ahead with regards to federal policy and support of our industry (and that is as political as I will get).
The end of the year is a great time to reflect upon why you do what you do, how you will continue to promote and advance our industry, our energy future, and those values which define you as a person. How will you round out 2016 and be a better advocate for our energy future in 2017?
A focus of mine over the past year has been to encourage better collaboration between RMAEE and other energy-industry organizations and local student groups. I’m pleased to say we’re finally making headway on this. Moving forward you’ll see us promoting the Building Commissioning Association and they’ll be doing the same for us. Similarly, we’re making headway in getting more students involved with RMAEE. We’ve recently had students from both the Colorado School of Mines and CU Boulder attend recent events. I hope that we’re able to continue this trend into 2017. Please welcome them to our meetings, ask them about their studies and learn more about their career goals and interest in our industry. They are the future of RMAEE and could become your next colleagues.
