MHCT Update

Dear MHCT E-News Subscribers,

I am sure many of you share the same feeling as I do that by December, we should be winding down for the year and start planning for the new year ahead. I am sure we will get there, however with two major submissions due this week Christmas holidays seem like a long way away!

The Fifth National Mental Health Plan response has shaped up nicely and the completed version is available here. Thank you to our members who have provided excellent feedback on the submission.

Our Budget Priority Submission is also near completion and has a strong focus in Promotion Prevention and Early Intervention (PPEI) and stigma reduction. This submission is in direct response to reform directions within the Rethink Mental Health 10 year plan and reflects the views of our members and stakeholders consulted in that process. Again, a copy will be made available via our website soon.

The MHCT Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday 29th November at Rydges North Hobart where we presented the Strategic Plan 2017 - 2020 and the Annual Review.  Attendees enjoyed an informative presentation on LifeSpan by Rachel Green, Director Lifespan Blackdog Institute.  As part of the formalities we welcomed two new Board members; John Edwards and David Tilley to the MHCT Board and said goodbye to Patrick Carlisle and Jane Bower after many years service.

The MHCT office will be closed from the 23rd of December until the 3rd of January. The team and I wish you all a safe and relaxing Christmas holiday and we look forward to our first E-News for 2017 in early February.

- Connie Digolis, MHCT CEO
