Mrs. Talera Thompson's English II classes were given details on Monday, November 28, 2016 pertaining to their group project. The project is based on the novel, "Anthem".  (Students read and studied "Anthem" during the month of November. Hard copies were and still are available to students to use inside of the classroom. As well, an online link was and still is provided.)

The criteria and rubric for the "Anthem" project ("Breaking News!") are on Edmodo in the Documents ALL folder.  Students began collaborating on their project on Monday, November 28, 2016 during class. They have been working on the project every day during class since November 28, 2016. They will continue to do so until Monday, December 5, 2016. (The purpose of providing students class time to work on their project is to eliminate challenges of students getting together after school hours.)

The due date for this project is December 8, 2016. (If a change in the due needs to made, students will be notified.)

Mrs. Thompson verbally went over the assignment with students, provided examples, provided students a copy of assignment, and encouraged students to see her in advance for questions, concerns, and/or help. Additionally, students were strongly encouraged to adhere to the instructions that are provided, and NOT to deviate from the instructions.

Mrs. Thompson appreciates possible feedback that may be offered once the students receive their score.  However, Mrs. Thompson will be the only person to determine what each group's final score will be based on the rubric and her professional judgement.

Need Healthcare?

Teen Express, an extension of the Howard Phillips Center for Children and Families, has been awarded a 2-year grant through the West Orange Health District to service nine OCPS schools including West Orange High School. Teen Express has two mobile health units that travel to the schools a few times per month to offer free medical, mental health, nutritional, and case management services to the uninsured or underserved teens.  The health care team provides 1:1 preventative care including comprehensive physicals and immunizations, provide home visits when necessary, consult with families and other service providers, and provide ongoing support through case management, treatment, and referrals for the students.

A parent/guardian consent form is required for care and is available in the nurse’s office in both English and Spanish. You do NOT need to have insurance to be seen. If you are interested in seeing if Teen Express can help meet your student’s health needs, please pick up a consent form in the nurse’s office, complete,  and return it to Nurse Mandi.
