The holiday season is a time to give thanks, and here at Emergency Food Network, we are thankful for you! From donors, food drive hosts, and volunteers at our repack and Mother Earth Farm, we couldn’t do our work without you. With your support, we have distributed more than 14 million pounds of food to our partner food banks, hot meal sites, and shelters so far in 2016.
Thank you for partnering with us to provide our neighbors in need with a consistent, diverse, and nutritious food supply.

Fallen Officers Food Drive
|
|
Seven years have passed since we lost four Lakewood Police Officers to a senseless crime. These officers and so many others dedicated themselves to the community in life and now that dedication continues through the Fallen Officers Food Drive.
In the last seven years the event has raised a generous $138,000 and 135,000 pounds of food. The goal for this 7th anniversary is to add enough to past year's totals to reach $150,000 and 150,000 pounds of food.
This year's Fallen Officers Food Drive has already collected $10,723 and 7,767 pounds of food.
You can help honor our fallen heroes by making a donation in their memory.
Drop off your donation of food at the Lakewood Police Department or make a donation using the button below.

Our Mother Earth Farm has been chugging along despite the dropping temperatures. We're still giving out about 3,500 pounds of fresh organically grown veggies a week. We've said goodbye to the women from Purdy--a big big thank you to them for the work and energy they put into this year's season.
Thanks to some great donations and grants (thank you United Way of Pierce County and UNFI!) we can grow four seasons at Mother Earth Farm. While we're still working on our brussel sprouts, kale, collards and chard in the field we've got lots of greens to come from our tunnels. One tunnel is packed with tat soi, pac choi, mustard greens and arugula--lots of nutrient dense food for our five food bank partners that brave the cold to come get our produce. The other three tunnels have mache, sprouting broccoli, kale, spinach and radicchio.
Outside of our harvesting work, our two farm managers (Anika and Grayson) are busy collecting data, reflecting, and reviewing systems for 2017. We're almost ready to start the process of pouring over seed catalogs and imagining what next year's farm is going to look like.

Empty Bowls Raised $31,772
|
|
Our Empty Bowls event raised $31,772! Thank you to everyone who came by to purchase bowls and eat soup. And a huge thank you to the all artists who donated bowls, restaurants and chefs who donated and served soup, stores who donated bread and coffee, and businesses that sponsored the event! You helped make this event a success!

EFN has the greatest volunteers! Check out what more than 2,400 volunteers have done so far in 2016 (and we still have one more month to go!).
Volunteers have helped us…
Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who have lent a hand this year at EFN and with our program partners. You have made a difference in our community, helping thousands of our friends, families, and neighbors in need gain access to nutritious food.
Like we said…best volunteers ever!!
