Landmine Monitor 2016 launched
The 2016 edition of Landmine Monitor was launched 22 Landmine Monitor 2016 coverNovember. Key findings in the latest report included a 75% increase in casualties due to mines/ERW in 2015 compared to 2014, and a dramatic decrease in support for mine action. Also prominent was the use of improvised mines, particularly by non-state armed groups, from October 2015-October 2016, as clearance of mined areas continued and more than 2 million stockpiled landmines were destroyed in 2015.  

Monitor launch
Additional press conferences and regional/national launches were held around the world, including for example in Afghanistan, Canada (video), Colombia (pictured above), Democratic Republic of Congo, Japan, Kuwait, and Pakistan (report), with more to come in Myanmar.

Monitor findings were widely reported by the media, such as AFP, BBC, CBC, EFE (Spanish), Le Monde (French), New York Times, and many more, including via video and radio.
