Landmine Monitor 2016 launched
The 2016 edition of Landmine Monitor was launched 22 November. Key findings in the latest report included a 75% increase in casualties due to mines/ERW in 2015 compared to 2014, and a dramatic decrease in support for mine action. Also prominent was the use of improvised mines, particularly by non-state armed groups, from October 2015-October 2016, as clearance of mined areas continued and more than 2 million stockpiled landmines were destroyed in 2015.
