UPDATE: Road closure and detour on
Bunton Creek Rd.
Bunton Creek Road remains closed to East Bound traffic from the Interstate-Highway 35,  East frontage road to the Kyle Fire Department Station 2.  West bound Bunton Creek Road traffic can use Bunton Creek Road to access IH 35.  East bound Bunton Creek Road traffic will need to use Kyle Parkway to Dacy to access Bunton Creek Road.  The private drive off Bunton Creek, which runs north-south between Bunton Creek Road and Kyle Parkway will also be closed at times at the Bunton Creek Road Intersection as a result of the Bunton Creek Road reconstruction.
City engineers estimate Bunton Creek Road within these limits will be closed for approximately four weeks, which could be affected by weather. After that time, traffic will be able to travel east on Bunton Creek Road and west up to Dacy Lane.
This project is part of the 2013 road bond package passed by Kyle voters. See the attached map for a visual overview of the closure and detour. Additional closures will happen in the coming weeks and months as the contractor proceeds with repairing Bunton Creek Road all the way to Lehman Road.

Keeping your home safe this holiday season

Below are some tips for keeping your home safe this season, courtesy of the Kyle Police Department:
  • Call KPD for a vacation home watch while you're out of town.
  • Arrange for delivered packages to be picked up by a trusted friend or family member or have packages delivered to your work address.
  • Consider not putting Christmas gifts under the tree for anyone to see through open windows/curtains.
  • Keep garage and shed doors closed and locked even when you're home.
  • Consider installing an internet-connected doorbell monitor that allows you to talk with people at your door and record activity.
  • Identify anyone at the door before opening, including delivery company personnel.
  • Don't place empty boxes from purchases (i.e., large screen TVs, game machines, etc.) out for trash pick up.
Angel Giving Tree back at Kyle City Hall!

How about the planned waste water treatment plant expansion? As our city grows, residents need simple, concise answers to those sort of questions. That is the goal of Water Wise and Sewer Savvy, the city’s newest outreach education effort.
We want to help our citizens be informed and to make good decisions about how they participate in the use of our water resources and the needs of responsible sewer operations.

End the Streak of highway fatalities

At least one fatality has occurred each and every day on Texas roadways since Nov. 7, 2000. That is a minimum of 365 deaths each year. The leading causes of fatalities continue to be failure to stay in one lane, alcohol and speed.
In an effort to end this deadly 16-year streak, the Texas Department of Transportation, through its #EndTheStreakTX campaign, reminds drivers to stay alert, obey traffic laws and take personal responsibility behind the wheel.

“Every day for the past 16 years, somebody has lost a spouse, child, friend or neighbor on Texas roadways,” TxDOT Executive Director James Bass said. “These deadly crashes are a sobering reminder that we must do everything in our power to stay focused and safe while driving.
Let’s end the streak.”

Kyle Police Department fully supports #EndTheStreakTX and encourages all drivers to help make the campaign a success.

Since Nov. 7, 2000, fatalities resulting from motor vehicle crashes on Texas roadways have numbered 55,578. To decrease the chances of roadway crashes and fatalities, TxDOT reminds drivers to:

*Buckle seatbelts – all passengers need to be buckled
*Pay attention – put phone away and avoid distractions
*Never drink and drive – drunk driving kills; get a sober ride home
*Drive the speed limit – obey speed limits and drive slower when weather conditions warrant
