Clinical Pearl:
PT Tip of the Month
Teach your patients well . . .
OK , yeah, I know. I modified a song that Crosby Stills Nash and Young did in 1969. But hear me out on this one.
For starters, I stink as an artist. I did not get the art gene (come to think of it, the spelling gene skipped a generation too). But one of the best things I can do is to draw silly little stick figures and pictures to help my patients understand why I do what I do and what has gone haywire with their body. Some of my best art work can be found drawn with a magic marker on the cover of the chart.

Host an MET Course
Hosting an MET course of your very own can be a big advantage in several ways and it’s easier than you think. With continuing education requirements now for most states, the cost of sending a single participant to a course can cost upwards of $1,200.00 for a weekend class. That can eat up your CEU money in no time flat.

Questions from the Mail Room
Q: Hi Tom, Purchased your manuals last year. Just wondering if the MET techniques for type 1 spinal dysfunctions hold over time? Just wondering how often the protocols need to be repeated in order for the effects to last?
Isabelle
A: Hi Isabelle, If you can get the pelvis balanced out so the legs are equal, you have a better chance of keeping the neutral dysfunction corrected. Otherwise, the temporary improvement will unravel under the frontal plane asymmetry. Keep in mind that if the scoliosis is structural and not functional, little can be done to correct the curve but you may slow its progression and it should help with the pain.

An abundance of research shows that EFT is effective for PTSD
Eight randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and many other non-randomized studies show that between 4 and 10 sessions are enough to eliminate high clinical levels of PTSD symptoms like flashbacks, nightmares and hyperarousal in most sufferers.
An incredibly important new piece of research on EFT for PTSD has just been published in a peer-reviewed journal. It's a meta-analysis. This type of study aggregates the results of RCTs and combines them to determine just how effective a treatment is.

Our Seminars
Muscle Energy Technique is one of the most effective and valuable manual techniques for the identification and correction of somatic asymmetry and hypomobility. These techniques can be used immediately to find and correct the causes of all types of pain. These are not cover up procedures, but rather techniques that cure the problem with dramatic results.
Unlike manipulative techniques, MET works via evidenced-based neuro-physiology using the muscle spindles to release tight muscles and decrease tone and excitability, thus restoring the bones and joints to normal mobility and returning them to symmetrical, smooth function.
The two-day courses involve a mix of theory, demonstration and hands-on practice. Actual evaluation and treatments will be performed by each participant using the methods learned. Plenty of time is allotted for hands on practice as well as questions and discussion.
Due to the hands-on nature of these courses, class size is limited to assure a very high quality educational experience. Attend one of our seminars and don't miss this magnificent educational opportunity!

What Are Students Saying about the MET Courses?
"The very best presentation I've attended because the information was not intimidating but mostly because the humor, tremendous knowledge . . . and the 'human' part of how we all learn was well done."
