Highlights from the Community Calendar
November Community Call - At the November Community Call we had an active discussion in both sessions about the opportunities and challenges of teaching undergraduates. Look at the Etherpad for a summary of the topics we discussed. We are canceling the December meeting as it falls during a very busy time for most in the Northern Hemisphere. Look for the January 20th call where we will have Steering Committee Candidates present their vision for the future of Software Carpentry.
Virtual Assessment Network Meeting - The Virtual Assessment Network will have their second meeting on Monday, December 12th at 5pm UTC. To learn more about this network read the notes from their first meeting. To participate send an email to DC’s Deputy Director of Assessment, Kari L. Jordan, at kariljordan@carpentries.org.

Run for the Software Carpentry Steering Committee - If you are interested in taking your community participation to the next level, please consider running for Steering Committee. Details about how to write your candidate blog post. The deadline is fast approaching! So get those posts in soon.
In July the Software Carpentry Steering Committee was invited to be a signatory of the Python 3 Statement - As our Python lessons are now advocating for teaching Python 3 and more and more communities are moving that way, the steering committee felt it was good to be a part of this aspirational statement about the future of Python in research and science. Get your project to sign as well, all it takes is a GitHub Pull request.
RStudio Consultant Directory - Are you considering ways you can get your name out there as an expert in the R Community. Take your Software Carpentry teaching experience and let companies know that you’d be willing to help develop custom lesosns and workshops for them. RStudio has invited experienced instructors in our community to add their name to their consultant directory.
