Letters from Santa Claus in Braille

“The best things in life cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart.” – Helen Keller

Does Santa read Braille?  It’s what every child who is visually impaired already knows…  Of course he does!  This year we’re just helping him out a little by embossing his letters back to kids.

We just want to help more kids feel included at Christmas, so that’s what the annual Santa Reads Braille event is all about.  In order for letters to be received by Christmas, your request for your child's Santa letter must be received by December 18.  Go to:

U of L Community Band Concert
Monday, Dec. 12, 6:30 - 8 p.m.
Kosair Shrine Center
4120 Bardstown Road

Last year, VIPS children and families had a fantastic time listening to the wonderful music of the U of L Community Band. Best of all, it was a chance for kids to get up close to the musicians and their instruments, helping them understand where those incredible sounds were coming from. The concert was such a joyful success that the U of L Community Band wants to perform for VIPS children and families again this year.  You don't want to miss this!!  Please let Martha know you plan to attend: mhack@vips.org, or call 498-2926.

Did You Know?

VIPS Indiana has served over 260 children in 47 counties throughout the state of Indiana in under five short (but incredibly busy) years?  VIPS Indiana is changing what it means to be visually impaired for Indiana's young children and their families.

Thanks to IUPUI Service Learning Students!!!

Lauren Wherry and Ellen Webb, Service Learning Students from IUPUI, finished their donated time with VIPS in Indiana by making tactile scratch mats for the children who are just beginning to explore tactually. Community Connections like these help VIPS provide things we use during home visits. The good news is that the collaboration was so successful, Keely Floyd of IUPUI plans to send more students our way next semester!
