What are some common misconceptions about accounting?
One main misconception about accounting is that only people with a lack of social skills go into the profession. I think having social skills is actually quite important in accounting because of the number of colleagues and clients you interact with, in addition to the fact that engagements are done in teams, so getting along within a team is vital.

What advice do you have for students considering a career in accounting?
I would advise students to start early! There are a lot of accounting and business unit requirements that are not neatly met by the majors offered at Cal, but can be completed for the most part by taking the accounting classes at Haas (which people should do even if they are not a Business Administration major).
