oh algonquin i return someday to these wilds
Tanamakoon Alumni
We hope that you are enjoying a happy and healthy fall! Tanamakoon just finished an incredible season. We were filled in every program in all three seasons. Most had waiting lists! We are excited to tell you that we are experiencing the earliest enrollment ever in Tan history.
Many of our summer sessions are close or are filled for 2017! Tanamakoon continues to thrive!Several Alums have been in contact to say that they would love to hear how Tanamakoon is doing. Here are a few of the new initiatives that you may not have heard about. The physical property has undergone some extensive renovations and new building. New outdoor handwashing stations, new Ojib three season cabins, rebuild of Dawendena, four amazing YURTS have replaced 7seven tents, new 14 element low ropes course and a brand new swim dock! The place looks incredible. Be sure to visit our website where you will see even more! Our in camp and tripping programs expand each year! Our one month trip travelled the Missinabi from James Bay-an incredible adventure for all! Each year Canadian Artists work with our campers and encourage our young artists to paint the wilderness of Algonquin. Each month we also celebrate our Be The change programs when we invite speakers to share motivational programs with campers. They are then encouraged to take the messages home to their families, schools and communities. Tanamakoon also brings in speakers from our Indigenous communities to help educate us on our diversity as Canadians. There is so much to share with you, so we encourage you to go on our social media channels and follow the changes as they happen. Visit Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. The purpose of our media outreach is to keep our Alumni and our present families engaged with Tanamakoon.
Each year brings new faces into our programs! We welcome every child and adult with open arms into the Tanamakoon family! If you have friends, relatives or know of young girls that would benefit from any of our programs we hope that you will pass on our number and website. Information on all programs can be found at:
www.tanamakoon.com
We encourage you to scroll through our photo galleries on the website and see how wonderful your camp continues to be for so many! Our website is quite exciting! Be sure to check out the new videos, photo galleries and our 360 virtual tour of camp!
