Thank you for reading my newsletter this year, and thanks particularly to everyone who has written with feedback. I really appreciate it, and it helps me make sure I’m addressing the issues you want to read about. In this, the December issue, I’ve collected links to the most popular pieces throughout the year, in case you missed any, or want to be reminded of some key themes:
Looking ahead, there’s much uncertainty, created not only by the big political surprises we’ve seen, but also by continuing technological and social change. I don’t envy the editors of The Economist’s “The Year in 2017!”

In such times, it can seem difficult to know what to plan for. As I see it, it’s actually more important for many businesses to figure out what stance to take. The idea is to position yourself to best exploit circumstances, whichever of the range of scenarios materialise. Like a goalie, you want to be centred, and balanced, but also on your toes.

That’s why in the New Year I’ll be focusing on what I call the Use What You Have™ stance. This fundamentally entrepreneurial approach is based on the idea that the better you are at releasing untapped potential from your existing resources, the better prepared you are going to be, whatever the conditions.

More from me in January. In the meantime, have a Merry Christmas, and a very happy and successful 2017!

Development Opportunities with Andy Bass

Use What You Have

When I work with executives and entrepreneurs, we will often debate this question: “What can you do to release more potential from the resources you already have?” By aggressively exploring this idea, many individuals and organizations could tap into an unimagined source of productivity, creativity and capacity. If you want to get started with this way of thinking, my free eBook will show you seven approaches to consider, opening up significant performance improvement opportunities with lower risk, and often with zero capital investment. The eBook of course deals with general cases. If you'd like to explore how to release more potential in your specific situation, give me a call on 0121 427 7217 or email: andrew@bassclusker.com.

Mentoring for coaches and consultants (including those thinking of getting started)

Thinking of getting started in consulting or coaching? I offer mentoring by exclusive arrangement with "Million Dollar Consultant" Alan Weiss. Alan literally wrote the book - well the books, actually - on building independent and boutique consulting practices, and is particularly well-known for his work on value-based fees. I am one of fewer than fifty people approved by Alan to mentor using his approaches, and my work is featured in the latest (5th) edition of Alan's classic guide to growing a consulting practice: Million Dollar Consulting. These ideas can save you from false starts and all kinds of dead-ends. For an informal chat, contact me on 0121 427 7217 or email: andrew@bassclusker.com
