Commit. Trust. Act.
"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act." -Psalm 37:5

Road Signs

While living and driving here in France, you soon realize the French love their signs. You wonder if you really need a GPS here. There are signs everywhere and some of them are fairly unique.

One is called "Priorité à Droite" (priority to the right). The vehicle to the right has the priority at the upcoming intersection. Yes, this means you must let the person pull out in front of you as you approach. Sometimes these roads to the right are hidden behind buildings or other obstacles. It is an old law that dates back to the times of the horse and cart and for some unknown reason has never been repealed. From our observation, most French drivers ignore this sign.

Another sign we have come upon is "Road Narrows" up ahead. This is normally displayed just prior to entering a small French village where the road is so narrow that two vehicles have a difficult time passing.  Add limited visibility of oncoming traffic due to the closeness of the buildings, and you wonder why there are not more accidents. Here, you simply pray on approach, hope that a large vehicle is not coming the other direction, and keep moving forward.

Road signs give us information and caution us on upcoming potential hazards. They are helpful and necessary to find our way safely. How many times have you missed the directional signs and ended up lost? Or, worse yet, failed to heed a warning sign and got into an accident? In the "roadway" of life, God has given us the Bible to provide direction and give us signs about upcoming "hazards." We need to make sure we are spending time seeking out the direction that God wants us to go. We need to heed the warning signs that He provides to keep us moving safely along this path.

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." -Psalms 119:105
