Machine Wilderness is an interdisciplinary platform for reimagining the role of human technologies in (post-)natural landscapes through prototyping ecological robotics.

Victoria and Albert museum - Digital Design Weekend

In it’s sixth year, the Digital Design Weekend brings together artists, designers, engineers, technologists and the public at the V&A to share contemporary digital art and design.

Machine Wilderness was there to present works by Spela Petric, Ian Ingram, Antti Tenetz and prototypes made during the workshop in Cornwall. The festival attracted over 24.000 people in two days.

Machine Wilderness @ Pixelache

We hosted a session during Pixelache festival in Helsinki in collaboration with Clemens Driessen (WUR). We looked at how technology can help animals take part in city life. With the help of changeist Scott Smith the session sketched-out integrated futures for non-humans in Helsinki, by making a deck of cards as a design tool.

Transmediale 2017: Machine Wilderness will be hosting a workshop in collaboration with behavioural ecologist Matthew Creasey on Feb 4th and Theun will also be part of panel discussions on Feb 3rd at Transmediale in Berlin.

Ivan Henriques - who lead our Symbiotic Systems workshop - has an upcoming Caravel workshop exploring the potential of robotic swarms that autonomously operate in (polluted) water areas, harvest their own energy and purify the water.

It's organised by Transnatural as part of their Regeneration - Biotalk Day
