Weekly E-News
First Baptist Christian Day School: Marcia Lee, Susan Green, and the wonderful teaching staff of our Day School interact with 100+ preschoolers and their families every week.  Our Day School connects with our community in some unique ways and allows preschoolers to hear about the love of Christ.  Thank you, Day School for all you do to lovingly teach so many young children. The church is very grateful to partner with you in ministry.

IMB International Missions - Lottie Moon Christmas Offering:

December 4-11 is the Week of Prayer for International Missions. This is an opportunity for FBCSpringfield and other churches to join in prayer for the work of missionaries who take the gospel to people in cities and extreme places.

Our church goal for this year is $45,000.  Lottie Moon envelopes for contributions will be made available at our Welcome Desk areas in the first and third floor. You can bring your contributions to the church, or give online at www.FBCSpringfield.org/give and enter your amount next to the "Missions - Lottie Moon" tab.

Pray for Missions: On Wednesday, November 16th we requested prayer for the Hoskins family, who were facing more scrutiny and a major issue, which could have really disrupted their lives and ministry. Praise the LORD!!  The Hoskins' issue has been resolved!  They send thanks for the prayers!

Please continue to pray for our missionaries & their families as many will experience the emotions of being away from loved ones during the holidays.  The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering provides for those serving internationally.  Please listen, read, and pray about this "crucial and vital" offering, that enables the Gospel to go forward.  God is moving among the peoples of the world and has grand plans.  Will we supply what is needed to fulfill His plans?  An additional way to give: if you order through Amazon Smile, you can designate the IMB of the SBC to receive a percentage. Please be a part of what God is doing through our missionaries.  It's so exciting to learn what's happening by reading IMB, WMU, & BGR materials.  PRAISE GOD for His grace for the many who are coming to him!

Children's Ministries News

1. KidCheck: We will be extending KidCheck to the Preschool Dept. beginning this Sunday- Dec.4.  There will be a check-in station near the Preschool entrance, as well as the Children's ministry room -C104.  We are asking all parents to check in at either of these stations (whichever is more convenient).

**There will also be an Express Hub located at the Preschool check-in that you can use if you own an I-Phone and put the KidCheck app on your I-phone.  Simply go to the app, sign in as usual, then when you arrive in the hall by the circular stairway, you simply hit submit and the printer should print out your labels.  You can literally do all but submit before you are in the building.  We are hoping that this new device will help with the flow of KidCheck and getting our children safely checked in.

Please be patient, as we work out any potential kinks.  Blessings.

2. AWANA store contributions:
On Dec. 18, the children that are participating in our AWANA club will have the opportunity to go and spend their "shares" at the AWANA store.  We are having this store before Christmas, so that our kids can "buy" presents for their family members, if they desire.  We are really hoping that this will help foster the concept of giving during this season when God gave us the greatest gift.

If you have small items that you would like to donate to the AWANA store, please bring these to the church office labeled:  AWANA store prior to Dec. 18.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!!  May God Bless you as you bless these children.

3. Lottie Moon Mailbox: We will be putting up the Lottie Moon Christmas Mailbox this week.  The purpose of this mailbox is to allow church members (who regularly attend) our church to use this mailbox for their Christmas cards.  The "Lottie Moon" part is that whoever uses this mailbox, would put the money that they would have used on postage stamps into their Lottie Moon offering.  The GA's and Boys on Track Mission organizations have sponsored this Mailbox.

If you use this mailbox, please make sure that you have your return address on the envelope.  If the mail does not get picked up by New Year's Day, we will contact you to come and pick up the mail and send it via the post office.

Even if you are not putting mail in the mailbox, please check your slot, occasionally to see if you have any mail.

4. C104 Refrigerator: The refrigerator has been cleaned out of all moldy/rotten things that have been left behind over the weeks. We ask your collaboration in maintaining this refrigerator clean and to dispose of things that no longer need refrigeration.

Calling all volunteers that can help wrap presents for Alternative House’s Christmas Party at our church. If you can help, please meet in Room C302 next to the Fellowship Hall on Friday December 16 from 10am - 2:00pm. All the help will be greatly appreciated!

You can support First Baptist Church of Springfield, VA by doing your regular Christmas Shopping through AmazonSmile. When a purchase is made for a qualified item, Amazon will make a small (0.5%) contribution to your favorite charity. When you choose FBC Springfield VA as your charity, our church will receive a check for our contribution balance each quarter. You can use this link to get started on your Christmas shopping.
Inclement Weather/Emergency Alert System:  Did you know that you can receive a text message about church activities when inclement weather or other emergencies occurs?  To subscribe to the FBC alert messages, you need to text "Follow FBCSAlerts" to 40404 (do not enter the quotation marks).  You should then receive a confirmation text.  Then whenever an emergency occurs, you will be able to receive a text message.  The church will also be using the previously established communications practices during inclement weather, but the text message system provides an easy way to quickly receive information whenever updates are necessary.
Please be in prayer for the Interim Pastor Search Committee to follow God's leading as they interview candidates.
A note for all parents: Children's Church will be held on Sunday mornings during this season of joint services except for the mornings of 12/4, 12/25, and 1/1.
