Job Description

Title: Character TD, TV
Department: TV Production HUB
Reports To: Production Supervisor, TV

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the CG Supervisor, Asset Supervisor and Animation Lead at DWATV and partner studios to build rigs for characters and complex props, ensuring all deliverables align with the production’s schedule and technical specifications.
  • Responsible for character set-up including rigging, weighting and skinning.
  • Work with partner studios to create and implement assets.
  • Utilize Python scripting to implement new tools and / or techniques. 
  • Responsible for ensuring all deliverables are completed on time and according to production standards. 
  • Work closely with partner studios to ensure all Character TD work (both creative and technical) is adhered to while ensuring scheduled deadlines are met. 
  • Provide recommendations and suggestions for designs and animatics while ensuring timelines are met.
  • Document workflows and processes using Camtasia video and Publisher software.
  • Review & note assets created by our Partner Studios.
  • Serve as rigging point person in show specific meetings and reviews.
  • Collaborate with the Leads and Artists in other CG disciplines to help establish processes and pipeline integration during the course of RnD, prebuild for new shows and existing show production
 

Required Experience

Requirements:
  • Ideally 2-4 years of experience in TV animation, film, broadcast, and/or games.
  • Prior experience working in a fast paced production environment.   
  • Extensive Maya knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of IK and FK systems.
  • Experience with skin weights.
  • Strong aesthetic ability.
  • Strong Python and Mel scripting ability.
  • Interest in custom tool creation.
  • Likes to collaborate and work in a team environment.
  • Good problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve unexpected technical problems.
