Important Reminders and Information from Premera and LifeWise
Premera Blue Cross (PBC) and LifeWise Health Plan of Washington (LWWA) have sent information out recently about the following issues. Click on the links below for more information:
The importance of using the "Pay Now" option
Research has shown that clients that set up payment as they enroll ("Pay Now") are much more likely to "effectuate" - i.e. they get and keep their coverage - than if they leave payment set up for later ("Pay Later"). It is in everyone's best interest to have your client pay as they enroll on the Exchange. Benefits of "Pay Now" include:
- Customers appear in the carrier systems quickly
- Customer gets an email confirmation of enrollment
- ID card comes quickly
If your customer chooses, "Pay Later," carriers typically mail a paper invoice with a return mail address for payment or a URL to go back in and pay online.
Emphasize using "Pay Now" with clients and know that payment must be received within 30 days of enrolling. To secure coverage for January 1, it is best that your client record payment to the carrier before Saturday, December 31.
Recording Exchange Sales
As part of the support you get from Connexion, we will follow up with carriers to make sure that you are paid commission on the plans you sell on the exchange. There have been issues in the past with producers not be recorded properly in the exchanges, leading to the carrier not paying commissions.
To help avoid issues, you can send us your list of sales by recording your sales through the form on our secure website's dashboard, or by uploading a list of sales made on the exchange to Connexion with the following information: first and last name of subscriber, dates of birth, effective date, and name of the carrier they purchased on the exchange. To maintain data security, please use our Upload Apps feature to send us this data in a spreadsheet or document rather than using email.
