Our Wickline Scholarship cycle opens TODAY!
The Wickline Scholarship was established through a legacy gift left to the El Dorado Community Foundation by Marian Wickline. Marian earned her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry in 1934 from Mills College in Oakland. This was quite a progressive accomplishment for women in those days. Upon graduating, there were no jobs for a woman chemist. Undaunted, she studied typing, filing and shorthand, and soon secured a job at Dow Chemical, Co. in her field, chemical research.
Marian moved to Placerville in 1988, where she was an active and engaged participant in our community.
WFED honors Marian's tenacity and strong spirit through her scholarship fund. The Wickline Scholarship fund was established to assist women over the age of 25 in overcoming personal difficulties and to help them better their lives by continuing their education.
Applications will be accepted through 5 PM on March 10, 2017. Please find additional information and the application on our website, here.
