Psychology and Sociology trips
The Sixth Form offers many additional opportunities for students to extend their knowledge outside of their A-Level courses.
Each academic year many subject leaders arrange for students to visit universities and other conferences centres to experience a day of extended study.
Recent Psychology and Sociology A-Level study days took place at Imperial College, London (Psychology) and the Institute of Education, London (Sociology).
Psychology subject leader Mrs Justine Williams said of the Imperial College visit (pictured): "These extended study days are very important for our A-Level students because it encourages them to think beyond the basic curriculum. They are encouraged to challenge and ask questions."
Psychology trip feedback included:
"I thought the trip was really useful and informative."
"The day helped me to understand a lot about the ways in which psychology fits in with magic, laughter, dance etc. The best session was Dr Dance because he got everyone up on their feet and dancing: everyone was engaging a lot with the activities."
"It was an interesting day and helped me understand my A-Level course in greater depth."
Feedback from the Sociology trip, organised by subject leader Ms Aynur Altinkaya, included:
"I enjoyed the talk about crime, learning a lot more about the topic than I knew before."
"Not only did I learn about Sociology, I enjoyed the opportunity to understand more about the university environment. The lectures were very interesting."
