4th December 2016

The day I overcame death!
That is a bit of a bold statement to start with but it's still true. In March 1988 I became a Christian! A whole new life began. (John 3Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”) My old self died and anyone that knew me from that time knew that I was a changed person. There was no doubt, some who said "he has found religion". I had not found religion what I had found was a new living, loving relationship with The Lord and Our Saviour Jesus Christ! In just four weeks time all over the world people will be celebrating Christmas, the Birth of Christ. Many people have already got their Christmas trees up. Our neighbours here in Truro have Christmas lights all round their houses for the whole world to see. Many people will be writing their Christmas cards and some will be using the term Xmas!
To me the word Xmas leaves out the very heart of Christ which is probably what some people want to do. If you have a Xmas cake then I would say it will be pretty plain and simple, bland even. You see a true Christmas cake contains love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, faithfulness and self control! The fruit of the Holy Spirit is contained in the knowledge and the love of truly knowing the Christ in Christmas.
The true meaning of Christmas for me started in 1988 and my prayer as we approach this Christmas is that more and more people will know that they need to die to self and all that means and live as true Christians from here and to eternity. (John 8:32, And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”)
