Re-registration materials were mailed home this week.  Please return the Re-Registration Form with deposit by January 3rd to hold a spot for your child/ren in the 2017-2018 school year.

Catholic Academy League Swim Meet
Boys and Girls in Grades 3 to 8
Sunday, January 8th, at Germantown Academy
9:00AM to 12:30PM. (Check-in/Warm-ups - 30 minutes before meet)


In order to create a safe environment, participants should have some Swim Team experience. If your child wishes to participate, please complete the form below and return it to the Athletic Office on or before by Tuesday, January 3rd.

Volunteers are needed to assist with timing at the meet.  Please indicate on the form if you are available.

Drop off toys by Friday, December 16th! 
Student Council will be collecting new, unwrapped toys. During the month of December, the Toys for Tots Foundation will deliver the toys to less fortunate families in the surrounding community, offering a message of hope and Christmas cheer.
Faculty and Staff Christmas Gift
There are so many faculty and staff to thank for their fiat to our children every day. In an effort to show our gratitude, the Parents’ Association has a tradition of organizing a holiday gift collection for the teachers, staff, and administration of the school. Thank you in advance for your support and for everything that you contribute to enrich our wonderful community.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
Monday, January 16th, 9:00am-11:30am

Help make a difference in the lives of those served by Face to Face, Germantown, Safe Harbor, Willow Grove, Cradles to Crayons, and St. Joseph's Manor, Meadowbrook.

MLK Day Service Projects include:

  • Making fleece blankets for children at Safe Harbor, Abington
  • Making Valentine Cards for residents of St. Joseph's Manor
  • Sorting donated clothes, decorating birthday bags, writing letters of encouragement for Cradles to Crayons
  • Packing Washeteria bags for Face to Face, Germantown

Two ways to help!

1. Now: Send in Donations

Boys' and Girls' gently used winter clothes: coats, hats & gloves (no scarves), tops, pants, skirts, pajamas (Sizes Newborn to 18/20) and winter boots, shoes, sneakers (All sizes up to Adult Size 9)

Boys' and Girls' NEW socks & NEW Underwear: Sizes 6 months to 18/20

Travel or personal size items. The following are just suggestions, but we will welcome all donations.  

Grade 1 - packs of tissue

Grade 2 - soap

Grade 3 - toothpaste

Grade 4 - shampoo

Grade 5 - deodorant

Grade 6 - mouthwash

Grade 7 - toothbrushes

Grade 8 - moisturizing lotion

All Grades - quart size ziploc bags all grades

We are accepting donations of new toys or games to be included in the Birthday Bags. Monetary donations are accepted for bus tokens, fleece material, art supplies for cards, and Washeteria supplies.

Sneak Up On Hunger is next Friday, December 16th
When you're shopping over the weekend, remember to pick up an extra non-perishable food item - a can, box, bottle or jar - for next week's collection. Bring in your donation next Friday and wear sneakers to school!

Suggestions include canned tuna and chicken, beans, peanut butter, soups, stews, macaroni and cheese, and cereal. If possible, bring your donation in a plastic grocery bag to be recycled at the food center.
Join the Green Team!

We are pleased to announce that AAA's Green Team is accepting applications for team members to encourage a "reduce, reuse, recycle" program that all of our staff and students can participate.
 
The Green Team will be chosen from 5th - 8th grade applicants that complete all parts of the application process. The members must promote the ideas of reducing, reusing, and recycling. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Monitoring recycling throughout the school
- Recycling snack bags
- Taking leftover snacks to cafeteria Compost
- Getting community and parental support
- Attending meetings 
- Following a schedule to collect materials for recycling around the school
- Being a role model for other students
        
The Green Team will have monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month at 3rd period/Recess.

Intramural Basketball - Registration is due now
It is important to register now as teams are formed on the basis of registration. Please return the registration form to school with your check payable to Ancillae-Assumpta Academy.

Intramural Basketball Sponsorship
Intramural sponsorship supports the Intramural Basketball Program for boys and girls in grades 3-8 which runs on Saturdays from January 7th to February 11th. The cost to sponsor is $250. Your company logo/family name will be displayed on signage in the gym and in the News & Updates emails during the Intramural season.

If you would like to be an Intramural Sponsor, please return the sponsorship form to school or sign up online by December 12th. Please send or email your logo or advertisement to Marie Boyden at mboyden@ancillae.org.
Babysitting STEM Night
Friday, December 9th
The MSJA Firebirds FIRST Robotics Team is hosting a STEM Babysitting Night on Friday, December 9th at Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Flourtown. 

The kids will participate in STEM related activities, make holiday cards, eat a dinner of pizza and ice cream/water ice, and watch a movie. This is a great opportunity to get all your holiday shopping done while your kids are learning and having fun!

Grandparent Emails
If any students' grandparents would like to receive the Weekly News & Updates email, please give their email address to Marie Boyden and we will add them to the distribution list.
Volunteer Certifications
Volunteer documents should be submitted to Meredith Finnegan in the School Office. Without these submitted documents, the Academy cannot authorize a parent to assist with any school-related activity in the 2016-2017 school year. Volunteer information is available on our website under AAA Life / Programs
