Topic: Boeing and the Environment: Sustainable Aviation Fuels

Michael Lakeman will discuss the macro drivers of aviation’s focus on continuous environmental improvement, and how those have lead to industry commitments and actions.  Among those actions, Michael will then focus on aviation biofuels as a means of lowering the carbon impact of the aviation industry, and describe the huge strides taken by a wide range of stakeholders to develop a commercial supply of sustainable aviation fuel, less than a decade after it was an unthinkable dream.

To initiate and promote discussion and action for energy innovation, efficiency and sustainability.

PEIA offers objective, thought-provoking dialogue on energy supply, demand and the associated technologies and policies required by sustainable economies.  It furthers its mission through:
  • Events – such as the Charting Our Energy Future series of forums, issue-specific discussion workshops and networking receptions.
  • Energy Breakfasts – informal, early-morning discussion meetings, featuring a presentation by an authoritative speaker on a current subject, with plenty of opportunity for questions, comments and interaction among all those attending.
  • Projects – to promote action by: defining and evaluating issues and options; formulating strategies & plans for action; communicating with stakeholders & decision makers about progress.
Receive one hour of Professional Development Credits for attending a PEIA Energy Breakfast.

PEIA Seminars meet the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BCs (APEGBC) definition of informal continuing professional development. For more information, go to APEGBC's CPD guideline.
