Dolf Kahle of Visual Marking Systems Named 2016 Chamber Business Person of the Year
Nearly 35 years ago, Dolf Kahle had what he describes as “the most incredible opportunity” when, together with his father he purchased a small screen-printing company with one printing press. Over the last three and a half decades, he has grown the business to 20 printing presses and has become more than just a screen printer.

Visual Marking Systems (VMS) has become a print provider that supplies high-quality product identification solutions for equipment manufacturers and public transit authorities, as well as fleet vehicle wraps, nameplates and decals for use on products in industrial, medical, agricultural, retail and consumable applications, just to name a few.

Since 2001, Dolf has served as CEO of VMS, which operates a 50,000 sq. ft. production facility on East Aurora Road in Twinsburg. The company moved to its current location from North Royalton in 1987 and added a second, 8,000 sq. ft. vehicle wrap installation & removal facility across the street, to better serve its growing fleet graphics division. VMS now has capacity for screen, digital, narrow web, wide-format, and latex roll-to-roll printing. Click here to continue reading

Habit Changers: 81 Game-Changing Mantras to Mindfully Realize Your Goals
by M.J. Ryan

What would you like to change in your life? Be more focused at work? Communicate more effectively? Find work-life balance? Make smarter decisions? Be more patient with your team or family? Have greater self-confidence? Less stress? Just . . . be happier?

Our biggest obstacles to change are the habits we engage in that have a profound impact on our behavior and shape everything from how we respond to challenges to how we engage with others.

In Habit Changers, M.J. Ryan shares the secret weapon that has helped others rewire their mental habits for the better called Lojong or “Slogan practice. In this Buddhist mind training process, users recite one-line habit changing aphorisms until they have reprogramed their brain’s automatic responses.  Throughout the book, Ryan explains how to use specific Habit Changers that have the most profound and lasting results. They include:

*You can’t say yes if you can’t say no
*Don’t push buttons that don’t need to be
*Handshake your fear
*Stand where you’d rather not
*Remember your highest intention
*Outsource your worry
*Reach for the better thought

It is possible to improve your focus, manage better under pressure, enhance your emotional intelligence, become more effective leaders, and more. Habit Changers will help you take control of your destiny and more easily achieve the success and happiness you desire.

Reduce Your Energy Usage and Your Operating Expenses
COSE has teamed with FirstEnergy’s Ohio Utilities to provide member businesses with an exclusive energy savings opportunity. The first step is a comprehensive assessment of how your facility uses power; gas, electric, even steam. The best part? There’s no out of pocket expense! Read what Craig Wallace, CEO of PACE Engineering, Inc., learned from his energy audit with the COSE Energy Advisors.

"Every firm looks to lower their operating costs.  Pace Engineering took advantage of the energy audit that COSE offered.  Energy accounts for 4% of our costs from process gas and electricity used in our manufacturing to general uses heat and lighting. Most people view energy costs as fixed.  The energy audit identified a number of projects that when implemented will reduce our energy costs more than 9%.   We were surprised because five years ago, we spent more than $250,000 on energy efficiency projects.  From the COSE audit, we learned where our energy is consumed and have uncovered even more savings than were identified in the audit." - Craig Wallace, CEO PACE Engineering, Inc.
