Dear Parents, Guardians, Alumni, Parishioners, and Friends of Assumption-St. Bridget School,

ASB is bustling with learning, giving, sharing, and anticipation.  This is a busy time of year for all of you and inside our classrooms!  Although there are many seasonal events and activities happening, our students and teachers are working hard.  We have a lot to accomplish and still cover these last few days before the break.  With renewed energy and goals for our second trimester to guide us, the teaching and learning every day is exciting and invigorating to watch!
We have entered the third week of Advent.  This week we are reminded that JOY has a real place in our lives.  The joy (along with many other emotions) that Mary must have felt upon learning that she was chosen to bring the Son of God into the world, humbles each of us to reflect on our own JOY that we bring to the world each day.  Someone reminded me recently of the simple practice of beginning the day with the question, “What do I expect?”  Each of us has a choice each day to expect to experience God each day, or we can expect nothing.  When we fill ourselves with this expectation, faith, and JOY, we not only see God in all things, but we bring God’s message to all we encounter in both word and deed.  What a wonderful opportunity every day brings!
This past weekend marked our annual auction and largest fundraiser of the year.  What a magical evening it was, exemplifying the best in our community!  Your immense generosity is incredible.  Our Fund-a-Need was 100% effective and ASB will install 20 new interactive panels and systems into the classrooms.  The overall profits support our budget in very tangible terms:  competitive salaries and benefits of our impactful staff and faculty, sustaining and improving our campus facilities, along with our very unique and responsive programming and curriculum that our children get to experience every day.  My sincere thanks to ALL who made this possible:  the three lovely chairs this year- Michelle Constantino, Mary Kaye Rodgers, and Jillian Pressnall , Dir. of Development- Jana Riggan, Fund-a-Need spokesperson Phil Yerkes, videography and graphics from Jorge Sevilla and Todd Hofmeister, and MC all night, Joe Mele.  The literal hundreds of other parents who led or participated on committees, along with the drove of volunteers the night of, allowed ASB to have a successful event and a wonderful evening to build community!
Time again to get students in grades 4-8  prepping for the National Geographic Geography Bee!  Students can access free study materials at http://www.natgeobee.org.  Teachers are reviewing geography and geographical terms throughout these upcoming weeks.  Over the holiday break is a great time for review and access to the free resources mentioned above.  ASB has had our school winner qualify for the state finals for the two years we have been doing this.  So let’s keep the streak going!  Flyers will be given to you to hand to your students as well.   Grade level bees will take place January 11-13.  Two winners from each grade level will then go on to the school bee on Tuesday, January 31.  Our school winner will take the written test to advance to the state level later that same week.
Last but not least, we need your help.  Our brand new state-of-the-art gym floor is already taking a beating from the vast amount of food and drink being brought inside to the weekend CYO games.  Signage is clear and large in the gym that no food or drink (including your coffee mug) is allowed inside.  Athletes may have water bottles.  Please model and uphold the rules in our newly updated gym and help us preserve the investment made into our facilities.  Thank you in advance!

In Christ's peace,
Christina Vierra McGill

Parent Survey Results
In October, school families received a survey as part of ASB School's accreditation process, and more than 220 individuals responded . The results of the survey will be incorporated in the self-study document we provide to the visiting team next fall, and are a valuable source of feedback on how we are serving the families of ASB School. You can view the results of the survey here. Thank you again for your thoughtful participation!
