Why not make today a Mon-yay?

With the majority of our week existing between Monday and Friday, I woke up this morning thinking how much of a shame it was that I was already excited for Friday. I was wishing away an entire week of my life.

Ask yourself this question: Who says you can't live your days like it's the weekend? That's not to say that every day should be a weekend day - we'd never get anything done - but finding something small and joyful to replace those weekend reminiscent thoughts might just make the week feel more pleasant. At the very least, more manageable.

The first step is to simply notice it. When is it happening? Then, create a new habit for yourself in that moment that sparks positivity instead.

If you've thought to yourself at any point today, "How is it only Monday?" - shift the conversation, right then and there. If you've looked at the clock hoping it was lunch time already (meaning half way through the first day of the week... only seven more halves to go), can you introduce a new thought at that moment?

When I begin to feel run down by the thought of how long the week is ahead of me, that internal dialogue alters how I feel in general and how energized I am to go about my day. Those thoughts also tend to creep in when I'm losing focus and steam with whatever I'm working on.

So here's the crazy action idea: When you have a moment of "It's only (insert day of week here)?!?" drop into a plank and hold it for 30 seconds, a minute, however long it takes to get out of your head and into your body. Office plank challenges aren't uncommon these days, you may even be able to pull your co-workers into it with you.

Those mini planks throughout the day also add up to endorphin-boosting exercise that boost your mood all by themselves, but also help you clear your head and refocus.

This week, challenge yourself to break up your routine of wishing for Friday and find a little T.G.I.M/T/W/Th.
