GIVE GOOD

♪♪♪ It's the most wonderful time of the year! ♪♪♪ And the most stressful, because we're all trying to get our year-end done at work, better make those appointments you've been putting off, of course I'll make 8 dozen cookies for the office holiday party, better get the house cleaned before the cousins arrive, does little Joey still like trucks? (I'm tired just typing that).
Let DDG help you out. We've put together a guide of some great gifts for the holidays. There's something for everyone, most can be easily ordered online, and best of all, every one of them gives you the opportunity to support a charity, a local business, or sometimes both. These are gifts that do good, and when you give them, you feel good. Okay, technically the gifts aren't doing good, it's not like a hand-poured candle is about to go serve meals at a soup kitchen, but you're a smart cookie, you get the gist. Oooh, cookies...

GIVE GOOD, FEEL GOOD
HOW LONG DO YOU THINK THAT'LL LAST?
Raise your hand if you've ever made a New Year's resolution to get in shape, joined a gym January 2nd, and by the 22nd, pretty much lost your sports bra (not in a naughty way, that's a different conversation, possibly with drinks)? **Raises hands** Come on, hands up, we're right there with you...
Rather than letting Tanya and Kyle at SuperGlutes Boot Camp talk you into a 19-month contract, why not make a resolution that will be truly satisfying -- helping young people improve their reading:
Latin American Youth Center Career Academy is looking for volunteers to help with their Reading Intervention program, which helps individuals strengthen their comprehension skills. If you'd like to work one-on-one with elementary age students who need a little extra support, consider Reading Partners. Inspire a love of literature by reading aloud to children in underserved areas through The Reading Connection.  Does a good book bring out the scribe in you? 826DC needs tutors for reading and writing programs for kids 6-18. Eat two gingerbread men in one bite: Reach, Inc. prepares teens to tutor elementary school kids who need some extra reading help. Not into kids? No problem. Be a literacy tutor for adults with Literacy Volunteers and Advocates. Now doesn't that sound more fulfilling than doing 50 squats?
