Over 4,000 Cincinnati elementary school children have gone home with sacks of groceries to carry them over winter break. These children live in the low-income neighborhoods of 4 zip codes to the west of I-75 and south of Interstate I-74. They share their food at home and are our "food couriers" to households that do not have a system that assures a consistent food supply. There are few cars to get to food pantries and limited job skills.

Childhood Food Solutions sacks improve the chances for these children by providing food - especially for winter and summer breaks. Our pilot zip code 45225 (including N. Fairmount, Millvale and Roll Hill) is showing double-digit gains in academic and health measures. We want to confirm these gains in 4 zip codes. New partnerships are helping us to do this.

Cincinnati Public Radio (WGUC, WVXU and WMUB) linked CFS with their December appeal so more people are learning about Childhood Food Solutions. And over 4,000 oranges were donated by Green Bean Delivery!
