December Node Meeting/Holiday Party!

The next 350Mass Berkshires Monthly Node meeting is on Wednesday, December 21st at 6pm at the UU Church at 175 Wendell Avenue in Pittsfield.

This will be our Annual Holiday Party, a chance for us to socialize, celebrate each other, and look back at all we’ve accomplished in the past year!  Feel free to bring holiday treats or potluck dishes to share but the Coordination Team will also provide some. If you play an instrument, please feel free to bring it; and bring along your favorite dancing music! See you there!

You can say you're attending and invite your friends on Facebook here»

350Mass Campaign Selection Results

The Statewide Steering Team of 350Mass met on Sunday to make the final selections based on the data. Looking forward to diving into the work with all of you starting in January, if not before. Our January meeting will focus on re-organizing the node a bit, including determining who wants to work on what aspects of the campaigns.

Below are the outcomes of the campaign selection process:

  • Legislative Priorities (we selected 5 of the 8 proposals): Solar, Renewable Portfolio Standard, Carbon Pricing, Gas Leaks, and fighting (again) the pipeline tax (Andy promised this would be a time consuming one)
  • Non-legislative: The Road to 100%, working with local municipalities to move towards 100% renewable energy.
  • The GWSA monitoring will be overseen by the Statewide Legislative Team, and they will alert the network if there are times we need to rally around GWSA stuff. GWSA will continue to be a talking point for all campaigns.
  • There was considerable discussion about continuing the Divestment campaign, but it was not ranked close to the top five by the collected node rankings, and it was felt unwise to expand the number of legislative campaigns to include it, given the large slate of priorities already on their plate.
  • Nodes with local pipelines or other fossil fuel infrastructure will continue with those fights, with the support of BFP and other nodes as needed.

TD Bank Protest: This Saturday 12/10!

A PROTEST OF TD BANK'S SUPPORT OF DAPL  TOMORROW (SATURDAY)!

The fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline has been nothing short of inspiring.  Despite the recent victory, the fight continues… and TD Bank is bankrolling this fossil fuel time bomb to the tune of $360 million in loans.

Webinar on Local Clean Energy Campaigns

Want to do more locally on clean energy?

Join this webinar to learn how to use the Clean Energy Checklist to assess your town or city’s actions so far, and to learn about the Mass Power Forward toolkit to get local clean energy projects and policies going in your community!

Our dependence on dirty energy like oil and gas pollutes our air and water and harms the health of Massachusetts’ communities. Pipelines threaten our safety and our green spaces. There is another way.

This unprecedented threat is also an unprecedented opportunity to use local clean energy to create clean energy jobs, develop sustainable neighborhoods, and clean up our air and water. Local action and local projects are good for two reasons: they let your community make choices based on your values and priorities, and they prove that climate change solutions work.

Four Freedoms Coalition March January 7, 2017

The Four Freedoms Coalition is a non-partisan, diverse, Berkshires-based coalition united in support of America’s founding values of freedom of speech and religion, from fear and want, and against the bigotry, intolerance and prejudice undermining these values.
Planned March: To unite people in this common cause, there will be a march and rally on Saturday, January 7, 2017. While specific details are still being worked out, we plan to gather around 12:30 pm in front of St Joseph’s church on North Street in Pittsfield, step off around 1:00 pm and proceed to Park Square for a rally.  A lot of creative ideas are already at work to visualize the Four Freedoms along the route. Help us out. Spread the word.
