ASV IT Coordinator, invited to the Google Education Innovators conference
American School of Valencia was represented by the ASV IT Coordinator, Mr. Samuel Landete, in the Google Education Innovators. Held last week at Google’s headquarters in Mexico DF, this event was a three-day conference for 25 teachers coming from United States, Spain, and several Latin American countries, all of them selected by their innovative teaching practices.
“The goal of GoogleEI was to encourage us to promote and support change in our schools”, Mr. Landete told after returning to ASV. “The event started with a general conference and then it was made up of short sessions in which educators can share ideas and collaborate to define their innovation projects”, he explained. Participants are introduced to Google’s 10x philosophy: “This vision invites to set a “moonshot”, a really big goal instead of focusing on short-term challenges".
After taking part in Google EI, Mr. Landete joins the small group of Spanish educators officially certified as Google Innovators. He is also the only one who has also the certifications “Google Trainer” and “Google Apps Administrator”.

Winter Concerts Dates and Dress Code
We are very excited to present our Winter Holiday Concerts in the Theater at ASV. Our students have been working very hard to prepare a wonderful concert and they are looking forward to performing for you! This is a very special event, and because of this, we request that you please observe the following dress code for your child on the day of the concert:
Grade 1 - Wednesday, December 14, 2016
A brown t-shirt or sweater, jeans and dark shoes.
Grade 2 - Wednesday, December 14, 2016
2B: A red t-shirt or sweater, jeans and dark shoes.
2W: A green t-shirt or sweater, jeans and dark shoes.
Grades 3 and 4 - Friday, December 16, 2016
A white t-shirt or sweater, jeans and dark shoes.
Grade 5 - Thursday, December 15. 2016
Boys: Black / dark trousers and a white shirt with a collar and dark shoes and a brightly solid colored scarf.
Girls: A dark colored or white dress, or black /dark trousers with a white blouse or shirt and dark shoes and a brightly solid colored scarf.
Grade 6 - Thursday, December 15. 2016

Please, ensure your child do not wear trainers, sneakers, or sleeveless tops. All of the performances will start at 14:30 h.

ASV will be teaming up with English Wooks for a series of Book Fairs during the following dates:
December 14, 15, 16 and 19, 2016
Books will be available for purchase on these dates in the Atrium from 11:00 to 17:00, and there will be a 10% discount on all titles for members of the ASV community. See you there, and happy reading!

CAS Activity for Pasalo Puzol
We recently started our festive giving campaign for twenty families supported by Pásalo Puzol. A display board in the atrium has been created and general donations may be placed underneath. In addition to this, each ASV classroom will collaborate on arrange and decorate one festive food baskets for the family they have been assigned. We will deliver the donations after school on December 19, 2016. Please direct questions to Ms. Jackie Paahuis or Mr. Marc Boyer.

Athletic Center Inauguration Postponed
Due to agenda issues, we have to postpone the inauguration of the Athletic Center and the Athletic Field initially scheduled for Tuesday, December 13, 2016. We apologize for the inconvenience this change may cause.

Preparing the Nursery Class Video
Children in Nursery are a little bit young to perform at the Preschool Winter Concert. That is the reason we want to record a special video featuring arrival at school, class activities, or lunchtime on Friday, December 16, 2016. Parents wishing to be on the video are invited to come to school with their child to record the opening scenes.

Parent Conferences for 1st to 5th Grade
In December 2016, Elementary teachers are having individual conferences with their students’ families. As we did during the school year 2015-2016, Google Calendar will provide us with an easy and fast way to schedule meetings. Find your child’s teacher link on the Class Site or here. ASV-CSN Global Exchange Parent Meeting
On Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 15:30, we will hold an information meeting in the main building dining hall for all parents and students who are participating in the global exchange program between the American School of Valencia and the Community School of Naples. CSN in the process of assigning host families and this will allow our students to get in contact prior to arrival. |

Information Meeting on 6th Grade Ski Trip
On January 23-27, 2016, sixth grade students have the opportunity to attend the annual ski trip. Last week, teachers gave a list of essential items for this activity. An informational meeting to share more detailed information about the trip will be held on December 15, 2016 at 15:30 in the theater, immediately following the Winter Concert. All students and parents are invited to attend. |

- IB CAS Students will visit children living at the Preventorio in Real de Gandía. Date: Monday, December 12, 2016.
- Students in grades 9 through 12 will have the Award Assembly after finishing the first trimester. Thursday, December 15, 2016.

Additional Products Free of Charge
ASV families will receive soon a copy of the ASV calendar. This year this publication made up of beautiful artwork created by the students in Preschool and Elementary is free and will not involve any charge in the school invoicing.
In the recent years ASV has made an effort to include in the regular receipt the following services or products:
- Class Photo (since 2014-2015)
- Winter Concert Video (since 2015-2016)
- Field Trips (since 2010-2016)
- MAP Exams
The school also worked to offer a reduction of the school supplies since the academic year 2014-2015.

Winter Concerts and ASV+ Activities
This following week ASV will hold its Winter Concerts, as we have done during the past three (3) years ASV+ dancers will open the concert with Ballet and Hip Hop. Ms Silvia, Mr Ardin and our dancers are working very hard to prepare this special moment.
