CEDA UPDATE DECEMBER - Members and associates edition

Dear <<First Name>>

Have you noticed all the wonderful tinsel decorations adorning all the poles along the Warburton main street? What a display. Thank you so much to the Warburton Traders subcommittee for making our town feel so festive. There are also some lovely window displays in many of the retailers. We truly appreciate your efforts.
It's hard to believe a whole year has already passed. There have been many milestones and achievements, and significant progress on many longer-term projects that can seem to take forever.
The Warburton Recreational Precinct is at final stages and the plans look amazing. Works are expected to commence after Easter next year! The plan is  a comprehensive recreational solution that caters to the needs of all sectors in the community and visitors. It has a strong family and play focus with a range of activities including a multi-age playground, climbing wall, ropes course, picnic and recreational facilities and the conversion of the old pool into a splash park. In fact, Warburton will have one of the best splash parks in Victoria!
The Mountain Bike Hub is also progressing and a comprehensive set of plans were presented a few weeks ago at a community consultation. They can be viewed on the website here.
Our trail mapping project is also well underway and significant surveying has been done and a shortlist of ride/walk/cycle/paddle options have been identified.  Information is now being formatted and will be loaded to our www visitwarburton.com.au website (and will include GPX, KML and Google map references). This is such an exciting project, one that will benefit every local and visitor to the region. There have also been many opportunities for trails identified that would make entirely new 'products' for us including longer loop trails and connections between various assets we already have in place. A very exciting time.
The Giro Della Donna was an outstanding success with perfect weather conditions (although CECA can't quite take credit for that!) and more than 1000 competitors. Feedback, both direct and through the buzz on Social Media, was extremley positive and many cyclists and their families are already booking in for next year's event. Our community benefited greatly with local volunteers being 'paid' via a donation to their organisation. Big ups to the Warburton Primary School for hosting the Summit Party and cheering the riders across the finish line. They earned more than $2200 for their efforts!
I'd also like to take this moment to thank Yarra Ranges Tourism for all their support this year. There's been many accomplishments along the way including their recent bronze medal for Destination Marketing at the Tourism Victoria RACV awards - a much deserved accolade. Any win for the Yarra Valley is a win for the Warburton Valley too.
A big welcome also to James Robinson who has just been announced as the new Chairman for Yarra Ranges Tourism. James has been on the board for several years and part of the development of the digital strategy and presence we all enjoy today. We look forward to working closely with James and his team in 2017.
We're really excited about some upcoming events (hint: one involves rubber ducks and the Yarra River) - read about them later in this newsletter!
Have a wonderful festive season and fabulous business.
Kind regards,
Peta Godenzi
