Department of Social Services Volunteer Grants


Volunteer-based sport and recreation and/or community groups are welcome to apply for a grant of $1,000-5,000 to support volunteer efforts.

Organisations may apply to either:
  • Purchase equipment
  • Receive assistance with volunteer training
  • Receive reimbursement of fuel costs, or
  • Undertake background security checks

Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund

The Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) supports local associations and sporting groups with financial assistance to develop basic sport and recreation facilities.
The initiative aims to increase participation rates in physical activity through the development of quality, well-designed, sustainable and well-utilised facilities.

Defibrillator Subsidy

The Red Cross provides every sporting club, school and not-for-profit in Australia with an opportunity to access a $1,600 subsidy towards a Lifeline View Defibrillator package.

KidSport - Applications now online

Applications for the Department of Sport and Recreation KidSport program are now available online.
The KidSport program enables eligible children aged between 5-18 years to participate in community sport and recreation through financial assistance towards club fees.    

Club Development Workshop

In September 2016, the Town partnered with the City of Subiaco to present a Club Development workshop. The workshop focused on the new Association Incorporation Act presented by the Department of Commerce. Caitlin Bassett, Australia Netball Diamond also addressed the group about her journey from grassroots netball club to elite athlete.

The next Club Development workshop is earmarked for mid-April 2017. Further details are to follow and any suggestions about training topics that would be beneficial to clubs are welcome, email Susan McGuane.

Safe Clubs 4 Kids Videos                       

 

The WA Sports Federation has produced a series of Safe Clubs 4 Kids videos to promote the message that creating a child safe environment is something we all can achieve. The short videos focus on having regular constructive conversations about child safety with children, parents and volunteers.

AROUND THE GROUNDS

Cambridge Croquet Club

The annual Australian Golf Croquet Championships were held in August and September of this year in Perth. Cambridge Croquet Club assisted in hosting the Championship and did a wonderful job.  The WA team are pictured here warming up prior to the tournament.

Reabold Tennis Club

Matthew Holmes from Total Tennis Reabold won the section 'Coaching Excellence - Club' award at the recent Tennis West Awards Night.
The very prestigious award recognises Matt’s efforts and those of his highly competent and motivated team. 
Congratulations to Matt and Reabold Tennis Club!
 

Wembley Primary School & Floreat Park Tennis Club

Congratulations also to Wembley Primary School who has been named Australia's 'Most Outstanding School' as part of the Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards in Melbourne. 
The strong partnership between the school and Floreat Park Tennis Club has led to a 400% increase in before school sport with 235 students now regularly attending the hour long lessons. Congratulations to Wembley Primary School and Floreat Park Tennis Club for a wonderful partnership.
