New Enrollment Hold for Undeclared Students

Beginning with the spring 2017 semester, all undeclared students will have an enrollment hold regardless of the number of credits they have obtained.  In order for the hold to be lifted, students will be required to meet with a major exploration advisor (Paula Mandeville or Megan Lindbeck) in AAE.

Students do not have to declare a major for the hold to be removed, but they need to show they are starting the process by first meeting with an exploration advisor and then doing any of the following:
  • Participate in a “Major Exploration” workshop
  • Take ACAD 108, Career and Life Planning
  • Continue to meet with a major exploration advisor
  • Meet with a career counselor in the Career Center
Our goal is that this intervention will lead to undeclared students beginning the process of finding a major that aligns with their interests and future goals earlier and with more assistance, thereby increasing retention of this population at Boise State.

Major Exploration Workshops

Do you know a student who needs support exploring majors? Encourage them to check out our Choosing a Major: Explore the Possibilities workshop offered throughout the semester in the SMASH building!
