Adega Estate 2014 Felicidade $17.38

Fresh citrus zest with accompanying floral and tropical notes with soft hints of herbs, pears and peaches. Finishes clean, crisp and balanced with delicate residual apple notes. Made from a selected blend of premium white grapes. PERFECT WINTER WHITE.

Arrowleaf 2015 Pinot Gris $16.51

BEST SELLER ALL YEAR

The grapes for this wine are grown in scenic Lake Country, which is nestled between Wood Lake, Kalamalka Lake and the northern part of Okanagan Lake. The lakes moderate the often extreme temperatures experienced in the Okanagan, making this area especially suitable for the pinot varieties. The growing season stays frost free until late fall, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and produce subtle flavours while retaining plenty of natural acidity. We ferment and age the wine in stainless steel to produce a crisp, fruit-forward Pinot Gris. Ripe apple, pear, peach and delicate floral aromas. The palate shows good minerality and extract, with refreshing acidity and fruit flavour on the finish. Try it with glazed salmon, crab cakes, mild Indian curries or vegetable lasagne.

Black Hills 2014 Note Bene $70.99

NEW VINTAGE RELEASE~EXTREMELY LIMITED

The 2014 season has proven to be yet another outstanding vintage in the South Okanagan. This new release of Note Bene shows its tantalizing signature raspberries, plum, and fruit leather complimented by dusty, mushroom, and earthy components. Rich, velvety smooth tannins coat the palate, resulting in a well balanced and delicate lingering finish of raspberries and spice. Medium-full bodied with well integrated tannins and a lengthly weight that would pair most perfectly  with fresh rack of lamb, elk, and ratatouille. Start drinking near the end of 2016 or cellar up to 12 years to reveal more clove spice, leather and pipe tobacco aromas. – Graham Pierce, winemaker 52% Cab Sauv, 33% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc.

Black Market 2014 Syrah $31.30

NEW IN STORE

The grapes were harvested on October 23rd. The Syrah was co-fermented with 8% Viognier to enhance the floral and fruity notes, and to provide a rounder mouth feel. After a slow and warm fermentation, the wine underwent another 10 days of maceration to extract more phenolic compounds. The wine spent 18 months in 40% new French and American oak barrels. Full-bodied with a luscious mouth feel, the tannins are lifted by a hint of acidity. Aromas of blueberry, blackberry and a bit of smoke are followed on the palate by savoury notes of black olive, clove and smoked bacon. The wine lingers with the hallmark pepper notes on the long finish. For cheese, think soft and stinky to match the earthiness of the wine. For meats, roasted game, smoked baby back ribs, or even a blue cheese burger. You could also try adding Herbes de Provence to any dish to bring out the floral notes in the wine.

The early days of CedarCreek were dominated by this proprietary blend which then was based mostly on hybrid grapes. Twenty-five years later, only premium vinifera fruit comes through our cellar doors. As a result, we have elevated this very affordable and aromatic blend, which now consists primarily of Merlot. Dark red in colour, the aroma of this wine is a perfumed mixture of raspberry, cherry, baking spices and some earthy notes. On the palate, the wine is silky, light to medium bodied, with a fresh, vibrant acidity and a long-lasting finish. The best Pinot Noir we have produced from Vancouver Island. Winemaking notes: The grapes for this wine were picked from the Brentwood Bay vineyard. The fruit was hand-picked, hand-sorted, destemmed and fermented on skins for 8 days. 5% Dunkelfelder was added to the tank to enhance the colour of the wine. The wine was aged for 10 months in neutral French oak barrels to mellow the wine and allow it to achieve a soft, rich mouthfeel. GREAT CHRISTMAS TURKEY WINE.

An intensely focused and bright Riesling, Decora is characterized by distinct chalk and grapefruit aromas, accented with delicate spice, stone fruit, and white flower notes. Whetting the appetite with lively acidity, Decora first hits the mouth with wonderful nectarine flavours, followed by an integrated palate of mineral and citrus, and a dry, energizing finish. Our non-vintage ruby port-style girl has been held captive in French oak barrels for three long years, and is unveiling herself to be sweet & "fruit-forward". The first dream we had as winegrowers was to produce great Chardonnay. It was 1987. To do that, we had to pull up every last vine we had, and replant new French ones. At the time, no one really knew for sure that great Okanagan wine was even possible. It was a big leap. But we took it.

Fitz Brut is our signature Cuvée, which is a French term for blend. Ours is made with a combination of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and starting in 2015, a hint of Meunier.
We take a vintage approach to our Brut much like the Grower Champagnes of France where we adjust the blend percentages from vintage to vintage and strive to evoke a clear statement on the year, terroir and people who contributed to the wine’s development. Fitz Brut spends no less than 24 months aging on lees.

Our discerning, resident bear loves Gewϋrztraminer. She picks perfectly ripe clusters from the vine with the same care we do, and then makes short work of them. We, on the other hand, gently press ours, and then use a long, cool ferment to preserve all their beautiful flavour. To each their own. PERFECT TURKEY WINE.

Our Rosé’s delicate pinkish colour evokes our vineyard’s century-old legacy as a peach orchard, where the blossoms stretched for a pink mile each spring. It was these peaches that attracted us here in the 1940s with Mac & Fitz, the family packing house. So memorable, here we are eight decades later.

The 2013 Kismet Moksha, is a blend of 58% Syrah, 13% Viognier, 11% Malbec, 9% Grenache and 9 % Mourvedre.  Deep purple in colour it displays balanced flavours of floral dark fruit and rich vanilla oak. Great overall texture and tannin structure. Pair with Vegetable Korma, a good steak or rack of lamb. We are the only VQA store to get this fantastic new release from Kismet! A beautiful rich blend that will age gracefully.

Mission Hill 2015 Reserve Pinot Gris $23.47

NEW VINTAGE RELEASE

Our 2015 Reserve Pinot Gris was sourced from three of our estate vineyards – Oliver, Mission Hill Road, and Naramata Ranch. Each vineyard has a distinct microclimate lending unique flavour characteristics to the varietal before it becomes part of the final blend. Oliver in the southeast is a diverse vineyard with a patchwork of individual blocks. Mission Hill Road has a cooler climate extending hang time and enhancing flavour development. And Naramata Ranch enjoys the lake’s moderating effect providing ideal growing conditions. A hint of freshly sliced ginger, Anjou pear, and nutmeg open up our Reserve Pinot Gris. Flavours of white peach, grapefruit, and zesty lime round out this full-bodied and aromatic wine. A relatively short and delicate aging on the lees in French oak maintains the wine’s crisp and dry nature. Pairs well with poultry, salmon, risotto and mushroom quiche.

Mission Hill 2013 Reserve Shiraz $26.95

CLUB SPW FAVOURITE~BEST SELLER

Our 2013 Reserve Shiraz was grown in two of our estate vineyards. Osoyoos, the region’s most southern area, is comprised of arid benchlands that benefit from the lake’s effect providing the region with more than 200 frost-free days. This warm climate allows the grapes to completely ripen for full flavour. Black Sage Bench is a diverse vineyard with more than 60 different individual blocks affording us an amazing array of premium quality fruit.

The illustration on our label is an original architect sketch from Tom Kundig when he and Proprietor Anthony von Mandl were designing the winery. The renowned Bell Tower is the focal point surrounded by the hillside where our winery sits.

This version of Cliffhanger Red is comprised of Malbec and Merlot grapes that were produced on the Anastasia vineyard. Bottling took place after 4 months in French oak, creating mouth-watering aromas of raspberries, blackberries, and cassis married together with mocha and milk chocolate. The tannins are quite soft and easy to approach. Allow your palate to navigate a firm acidity without the presence of sour undertones. Be sure to take notice of the fruitful flavors of cherries, both red and black, swirled in with mocha and chocolate. Pair this wine with some Italian-style sausages, beef wellington, or a plate of jambalaya, simply to die for. One of our best selling red blends of 2015.

Fermented entirely in stainless steel and finished off-dry, this is a savoury blend of Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Ehrenfelser, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. Named to honour native folklore, Dreamcatcher’s symbolism transcends culture and language. Dreamcatcher is a vibrant and luscious blend of premium white varieties displaying aromas of ripe tropical fruits, canned peach, green apple and citrus. Secondary notes of grass, gooseberry and honey lead to flavours of peach mandarine, orange and lime. The entry is soft and juicy but quickly balances with a crisp acidity which leads to a clean citrus finish. Pair with fresh salads and vegetables, simple seafood dishes,  lemon chicken and soft cheeses.

Our wines pay homage to the Ganton and Larsen families; original and longstanding land-owning partners of the winery. The grapes are sourced from vineyards across the Okanagan Valley, allowing for diversity, consistency and distinctiveness. Each varietal features a gem; a historical place, figure, animal or item from the Okanagan Valley, commemorated by original artwork from local Okanagan artists. Starting on the nose, you are greeted with wild blueberries, violets and red plums. Our medium-bodied Merlot then overflows with flavours of black cherry, more blueberries, coffee and spice. Smooth, delightful, with a long finish that has touches of cedar from oak aging. Our Merlot pairs well with wine-braised stews, roasted duck and fresh pasta with marinara sauce. Its fruit forward style makes it a natural companion for Comté. Few “go-to ingredients” we particularly enjoy are rosemary, thyme, black olive and dried berries. GREAT VALUE.

CLUB SPW FAVOURITE

A great vintage with lots of warm ripening days and enough cool nights to ensure the whites maintained their fresh acidity.  Flavour development came on slow, but when it did, it provided for lovely balance and great fruit characteristics.  The reds in particular showed later than normal flavour and tannin development, yet with excellent late vintage weather they too developed balanced structure and loads of berry notes.
WINEMAKING This wine greets you with pepper and spice with lots of floral  notes and hints of vanilla from months of barrel aging. On the palate there is a bounty of dark fruit with the pepper/spice in the back ground. Plentiful tannins give the wine a great mouth feel, and the finish is pleasing with just a touch of fruit sweetness.
FOOD AND WINE PAIRING This is definitely a wine that will go with flavoursome foods,  such as Spanish tapas, Greek or Italian cuisine.

Stoneboat 2013 Pinot Noir $25.21

This notoriously difficult grape is well suited to our vineyards’ calcareous soils and dramatic night/day temperature shifts of up to 30º C. Sensitive in the vineyard and temperamental in the cellar, our Pinot Noir creates beautiful wines when handled minimally and gently. 
Bold but delicate, this wine offers concentrated red fruits scented with earthy spice. Layers of violet, green tea and rich currant flavours linger on the palate, with silky tannins offering up a deliciously smooth finish. Balanced acidity and sturdy structure ensure that this Pinot will cellar well.
Multiple small-lot fermentations of five clones from two vineyards were key to maximizing the complexity of the finished wine.
