God answers prayers in my life every day and in more ways than I can explain. A little over three years ago I started on a spiritual journey. I experienced an “awakening.” I realized I needed to be more intentional about my spiritual life and do a lot more “innercise.” God has been a huge part of this journey.
Throughout my life, my prayer practices have ranged from the regular, every morning or evening to a less structured style. More recently, I often recite the serenity prayer and think about the words, “serenity, courage and wisdom”. I add an extra phrase at the end of that prayer…”and the willingness to take action.”
At this point of my life, I am more mindful of God’s presence. It appears to me in people, places and things. I admire and respect people who pray on a regular basis, read the bible and explore spiritual literature. I have learned a lot by observing and listening to others. What’s meaningful to me is the healing power of prayer. I have seen the healing power of prayer in my own life and in the lives of many other people.
With the daily distractions and urgent tasks of the day, I pray when I have a quiet moment to myself. I often have the desire to pray before class, a meeting, a meal, when thinking of those that are sick or grieving. I also pray about things I need to strengthen in myself; patience, humility, love, kindness and gratitude. Over meals together, my family usually prays about love, and gratitude. I’m incredibly grateful to have met so many wonderful people at TPC, especially the Sticky Faith team and both Pastor Kurt and Pastor Mary.
