We would also like to express gratitude to all the parents who donated poinsettias, crystals, and the beautiful shells, and to the 8th grade, Ms. McKenzie, Mr. Jensen, Curt, and Ms. Godfrey for their help in disassembling the spiral.

Thank you from Redwood Empire Food Bank!
Thank you for making a difference in our community. Your contributions help the Redwood Empire Food Bank provide critical hunger relief to children, families and seniors in need of emergency food assistance in our community.

This November, you contributed 231 pounds of food to the REFB, allowing us to distribute the food necessary to provide over 185 meals to our neighbors in need.

One in every six people struggle with food insecurity in Sonoma County. The contributions from you, our dedicated partners, provide critical nutrition assistance for our neighbors in need and also makes a huge difference towards feeding over 82,000 people of all ages, every month - providing dignity and hope for the many who experience hunger in our community.

Thank you HomeSchool and Third Grade!
Pledges Received through November 2016: $59,575
Pledge Participation Rate: 80%
The amount needed to be on track through the end of November is $78,750.
We’ve improved our punctuality percentages!
Tardies can become a significant problem at a school and schools often resort to punitive measures to address the issue. At SunRidge, we prefer to approach tardies not as a discipline issue but as an important educational concern. In our first attendance period we had 33% of our students arriving late 3 or more times.  The good news is that in our second attendance period that rate decreased to 25%!  To continue this trend, we need your help!

The importance of being on time is accentuated in a school guided by the core principles of Waldorf Education because there is a rhythm to the school day, beginning with a greeting and opening activities that address the whole child. SunRidge teachers prepare an interdisciplinary subject study for each main lesson period, during which key academic material is presented orally.  Frequently missing a part of this period is likely to have a detrimental effect on a student’s comprehension and completion of the main lesson subject. Arriving after the main lesson has begun also disrupts the activities, rhythm, and momentum of the class.

An occasional tardy is understandable. Recurring and significant tardiness (e.g., more than two a month or over 30 minutes late) indicate a problem that needs addressing. Your class teacher or the school manager can be a good resource for suggestions and ideas.  Please make every effort to ensure that your child arrives to school on time.
November Solar Energy Production Report
Our monthly energy report shows how our system performed and how much we contributed to offsetting the global carbon footprint.

The energy produced for November 2016 using our new solar panels was 1.07 MWh. The October total was 1.36MWh, and the total energy produced for the year to date is 6.45MWh. Our Carbon Offset for this month was 1,623 lbs, which means we have offset the carbon footprint to the equivalent of 19 trees. We are proud that our school is contributing to preserving our environment by using solar energy.
Homework Support –New Schedule Starting In January
Due to study hall offered during 4th period, homework support will end on Mondays beginning on January 9th. We’ll continue to offer it on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Gratitude for the Kitchen Transformation
We wish to send out a warm thank you to Brandy Rucker and Kari Snyder. These two have teamed up and are keeping the dream of giving our children and our community a place to make and share food. They have helped do the dirty work, and now have a list of needs and wishes. They have also created some expectations and rules of conduct that will help guide us in our kitchen use. They will need help to keep the kitchen up to standards and the doors open. You can find out more, sign up, or share by looking at the lists they created in the kitchen itself. The door is open, please do pop in and see. We are so excited to start filling the hallways with warm smells from the oven, fresh crisp smells of cut vegetables, and aromatic spices! Feel free to contact Brandy as the Lead Parent in the kitchen with any questions or supportive thoughts at barefootwithbrandy@gmail.com.

The Q'ewar Waldorf dolls have arrived!
What is Q'ewar? It is a cooperative of indigenous women in Andahuaylillas, Perú that has been created out of anthroposophy's principles of social and educational transformation. This year we have hats, socks, mittens, gloves with open fingers, traditional gloves, little gnomes, and dolls' clothing made of alpaca, and baby alpaca wool. Ultra pretty, and warm for the winter. The ladies who make them show amazing creativity, and care about the quality of their work!   All the profits go back to the project. Besides clean, well-lighted and ventilated workshops, dental cleaning, self-improvement workshops, and health services provided through volunteers from around the world, the Q'ewar Project has built a Waldorf nursery, preschool, kindergarten and first grade. The ladies want their workshop and school's growth to continue, but have not been able to expand this year due to lack of economic resources. Please consider the Q'ewar Project offerings when making your gift list. Every purchase counts; every doll is a unique, work of art.

Please contact Marcela at (707) 544-2874 or spanisharts@sbcglobal.net

SunRidge Family Looking for Housing
A family of 5 that tells Norwegian troll tales and often makes music as FAUN FABLES is looking for housing! Around the bend, through the trees, up the lane, do you know of a forgotten grandma house, a funky barn, a beguiling shack, a-once general store with our name on it?
