MERRY CHRISTMAS!

We are excited to be spending Christmas here in Pennsylvania. This holiday season will find us enjoying time with family and friends and the traditions we have here in Pennsylvania. As the holidays approach we wanted to share with you something that has been on our hearts.

Are you too busy?
This time of the year becomes busy for everyone.  We have shopping and family gatherings.  There are parades and parties and the things to do, and people to see.  And it all can become very daunting.

Recently, we were challenged by the story in Luke 10.  Where Mary and Martha are with Jesus.  It says that Martha was distracted by all the preparations for the meal.  Yet Mary was just sitting at the feet of Jesus listening.  Martha got upset and says to Jesus “don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

So often we can be distracted by these things we need to do and we forget about what is at the center of it all.  Martha was too occupied about what was needed to be done she forgot who was there at her house.  I’m sure she had good intentions at first wanting to serve everyone but when she became so focused on what needed to be done she took her focus off Christ and shifted it too herself and the need at hand.

In our preparation to go to Panama we spend a lot of time meeting with people raising support.  It has become easy for us to focus on finances and the list of things that need to get done for our departure.  However, if we lose sight of our purpose and what we are doing has no meaning or impact. Our purpose in Panama is to bridge lives to Christ.  He is at the center of it all.  We are called to be faithful to Him first.  With all the distractions this time of the year we intentionally take time together, every night, to recenter our focus on Him.

Have you seen our blog?

In addition to these monthly newsletters we also have a blog that we update more often.  Here are some our latest posts:

Praise & Prayer

  • We have an apartment to live. We are so grateful that John and Lucy, the interim Pastor, found an incredible apartment for us!  It has been so encouraging to see the logistics starting to come together.
  • Enjoyable holidays with family and friends. Pray for sweet memories and quality time, as it’s bittersweet to be moving away from so many people that mean a lot to us.
  • LifeBridge leadership team. Pray for continued encouragement and motivation as they take care of the responsibilities at the church.
Thank you for you prayers and support!

What’s next?

We are now in the process of raising support and we will not leave for the field until we reach 100% support.  This means that we will remain the Newtown, PA area until most likely sometime in 2017.
