Establishing sustainable loving homes for orphans in East Africa that develop children to reach their full potential.
Greetings from Lulwanda !
The school year is almost finished for the Lulwanda children, and the Secondary boarding students are back home for the holiday. Everyone has been working very hard to achieve good grades so that they will be promoted to the next level when school resumes in February, 2017.

The thirteen children in the Primary 7 class who are called "Candidates" (candidates for promotion to secondary school) sat for the National Primary Leaving Examinations. This is a very stressful time, as their grades will determine which Secondary school they qualify for. Please pray for this process to be fair, and that our precious children will be successful.

We also had 12 children taking exams in Secondary 4 (S4) to determine whether they will proceed on the academic route to S5 or branch to a trade school route in keeping with their abilities and strengths. Seven of our oldest students are taking final exams to complete their high school education (S6). Most of them hope to graduate and go on to University.

P7 Celebrates Primary School Graduation

A prayer and dedication service was held in the church that our children attend for our P.7 "candidates" before they took the Primary National Leaving Examinations. It was a stressful time but they had prepared for months for this critical examination. The children celebrated this milestone by taking a field trip to Sissyi Falls to see the beauty of nature and play in the water. The exciting day culminated in a visit to Missionary Ryan’s home for a celebratory luncheon including cake and soda. It was a great day!

Lulwanda Primary School Staff Receive Degrees and Diplomas

Four beloved and faithful Lulwanda Primary School teachers were celebrated recently after working hard to upgrade their education in their spare time while continuing to work at Lulwanda.  This was made possible thanks to grants from Books Are The Beginning, a ministry run by former GICF Board member Mike Thrasher and his wife Mary. Teachers Amon and Nathan recently graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Social Administration, and Teachers Francis and Emma received Diplomas in Special Needs Education. Other teachers look forward to graduating next year. Well done gentlemen! Congratulations.
Congratulations Teacher Francis, Deputy Head Master Amon, Teacher Nathan and Teacher Emma. Carol looks forward to graduating next year.

End of Year School Field Trips

Teacher Francis oversees Betty, James, Marion and Stella (l-r)
The young ones took extra clothes on their field trip to splash in the pool and jump on the bouncy house at Frankie Kids Center in Jinja, a town about 2 hours away. Great fun was had by all!
Joyce and Brian and their friends in the upper Lulwanda Primary classes enjoyed the beautiful fresh air and water at Sangalo Beach following their trip to the Tororo Cement Factory, and Kibimba Rice. They also went to the Uganda - Kenya border to see what takes place at a border crossing. It was a very educational day.
