I am delighted to invite you to the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians Annual Scientific Conference to be held in sunny Surfers Paradise in Australia in February 2017. In keeping with our new name, now embracing Exercise as a vital part of Clinical Medicine, the focus will be on “Keeping you Active” to help decrease the morbidity and mortality associated with an inactive lifestyle. There will be a diverse scientific program reflecting this, featuring current concepts in management of osteoarthritis, exercise therapy in the management of cancer and mental illness, as well as concurrent streams with clinical presentations and workshops on injury and illness prevention and an ASDMAC update.
Keynote speakers include Professor David Hunter, Professor Martin Schwellnus, Professor Mark Batt, Professor Daniel Galvao, Ms Alessandra Gianni and Professor Karim Khan, more than complementing many of the College’s finest Fellows and Registrars.
The Scientific Conference will be bookended by the annual ACSEP Registrar conference as the lead in and the highly successful Management of Sporting Trauma (MOST) Course and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound for Sport and Exercise Physicians Workshop, following on immediately after.
Complementing the program will be a fun social and activity program making the most of the Surfers Paradise Grand Marriott Hotel and its lush local surrounds of the nearby hills and beaches. A dedicated activity morning could have you playing golf after a run along the beach, followed up by a swim in the surf and coffee in a local beachside café.
The College has received overwhelming support and compliments from international participants after attending the 2016 ‘Treating the Elite Athlete’ ACSEP Annual Conference.
"I have spoken at and attended many such national conferences in the past, and I honestly wonder if I have ever been to a better event. Across all aspects of the meeting, you deserve five gold stars: from the organization of the meeting, to the quality of the talks, to the amenities of the host facility, to the friendliness of the college. Bravo!”
- Assistant Professor James MacDonald.
This is a unique opportunity for the Global Sport and Exercise Medicine community to meet face to face in the ideal environment that the Gold Coast provides, as well as familiarise yourself with the host city of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
I look forward to welcoming you to our golden beaches in February.
Kind Regards,
Dr Adam Castricum
ACSEP President
