Can you feel the EXCITEMENT?!
I sure can! So much going on. So much coming up!
Christmas is in the air, with a sizable whiff of Festivus around the fringes. I've recently returned to directing the choir at First Universalist Church, Unitarian Universalist of Auburn, Maine, following a six-month sabbatical. It's good to be back, but jumping in right at the beginning of the holiday season is quite a mind-scramble! Oh, and I'm producing a concert series at the church called "Concerts for a Cause." We just hosted Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas last week. What a fabulous show! It's humbling to wear the concert producer hat after being on the other side of the equation for so long. It's unbelievably hard work producing shows!
This coming Saturday is my first of FOUR Egg-nog-flavored concerts over the next two weeks. Gotta rehearse all those Christmas songs! Perhaps you remember my coffee-ordering soundcheck from last year? No? Well, roll the tape!

This video was from last year at the North Church in Farmington, ME—the same show we are doing again on Saturday. Next week goes crazy with us taking the show to Portland, ME on Tuesday. Wednesday night I'll do my regular weekly pub show at Bull Feeney's in Portland, ME. Thursday, my NEW LIVE CD will be released at a concert in Bethesda, MD. Saturday the 17th will be the final performance of the annual holiday show for the year, right back where it all started at my church in Auburn, ME.
There is so much coming up, the new year is booking up. The new CD is coming out. All CDs (except the new one) are half-off for the holidays. Now is the time to fill someone's stocking with CDs!
It's a crazy time! Please take a moment to catch up on all the excitement by visiting my calendar on the website. It's full of upcoming shows including my debut at Lenny's in Westbrook, ME, what I'm doing New Years Eve, and some Squid Jiggers activities as well—starting on New Years Day with an online-only show on ConcertWindow.com and then a Sunday afternoon concert later in the month in Augusta, Maine.
It's a lot going on, but it's always that way this time of year. We all go just a little bit crazy with short days and long nights, endless hours of shopping, cooking, eating, and enjoying family. Remember your fellow man, and don't hit anyone in the parking lot at the mall. As Red Green would say, "Keep your stick on the ice."
Until we meet again, hopefully soon…
-Dave
P.S. For my friends who would like to attend the CD release on Dec. 15 in Bethesda, MD, I have been told that tickets are in short supply. The folks at the World Folk Music Association, the organization that is hosting the show, tell me that ticket sales may well be shut off this week, so get your tickets soon. Click here to get your tickets now before they're all gone!
