Simos family ministry update from the Dominican Republic

There were many activities taking place at Freedom Christian School this December.  The first ever Freedom store opened up to first through third graders as a tool to promote responsibility, stewardship, and hard work.  Little did we know that several students lacked an ability to properly accept responsibility for actions.
The day after the store, the principal's office was filled with students who had argued, fought, and been disrespectful as a result of jealousy and ill-will towards those that earned.  We took the time to speak Biblical truths into these lives to help them grow in knowledge and wisdom.

As we prepared for the Christmas program, teachers could be heard time and again sharing the true meaning of the season.  We can't help but be thankful for students who can articulate the Savior's birth.  There were times when the spiritual battle felt very real.  (Yes, plans were made to pull students from the program if behavior was going to be a problem.)  Yet, the programs went beautifully, and the gospel message was shared in song, drama, and word.
In efforts to promote Phil 2:3-4, students chose a name of another student from the Christmas tree in order to write him or her a letter.  Kids were thrilled to see their own names on the tree, and then beamed with excitement to choose a name.  Teachers coached students on how to write a letter, and they were delivered the day before Christmas break.  We tried to check through some of the letters and noticed the compliments given - students learning to value one another.  Several of them made us giggle as kids shared that they liked another student's hair or that they liked how the other student would play with him.  Alfredo's letter shared how he had accepted Christ, and he wanted the other student to accept Christ, too.
Construction continues!!  We hope you never grow tired of hearing about it because we, too, are surprised  at the rapid pace the Lord provides.  What you see in the picture is the progress-to-date on our multi-use which will be used for chapels, assemblies, programs, school lunches, gym, indoor recess, and more.  If you're looking for a place to give, please consider a donation towards this!
As for our family, Kinsey returned to the DR for her Christmas break from Word of Life Bible Institute.  Elle and Gabe continue in their studies through Liberty University's online academy.  We'd ask you to pray for us as we head into a busy spring.  Also, please pray for interns to join us for the 2017-2018 school year, as they are a vital part of our ministry.
As 2016 comes to a close, we couldn't be more thankful for all of you.  Your prayers, encouragement, and support continue to amaze us!  We are eternally grateful, and praise the One who became flesh and made his dwelling among us (John 1:14).
