It has been a big year for Team CP and 2017 is shaping up to be even better but before we get into that we are going to relax, recharge and enjoy a little time off.  I hope that you have a fantastic Christmas and New Year Break and have lots of fun adventures lined up over the holiday period.

Thanks for all of your support in 2016 and we look forward to catching up on the other side.

Richard (Head Honcho and Editor)

Group Sessions in 2017
The 2016 Group Session Season was simply awesome with a great group of people, both seasoned and novices in their sport, showing up weekly to challenge themselves and having an enormous amount of fun in the process. There is nothing better than training with friends, and even if you showed up to your first session not knowing anyone, you were guaranteed to leave having made a few friends!  We will definitely be back into things in the 2017 Season and are very excited to hear about your holiday break and the new goals you have set for yourself.  Be sure to check out our new timetable on the website as well.  This  will keep you up to date on all the sessions and times for the upcoming season!

Our Hut Bagging Competition is in full swing!
There are over 920 huts in New Zealand which means we have your weekends planned for the next 17.5 years!  Get out and about and see some of the most beautiful scenery this fabulous country has to offer while bagging a hut or two.  The competition ends 31 Jan and Reta Trottman is definitely in the lead!, but we all know there is no time like the present to bolster a bit of friendly competition!
The rules - get yourself to a hut or shelter under your own steam, take a photo of yourself and send it into us.  It is a great way to add a little extra adventure to a training session.

Farewell to Fleur
We are wanting to wish CP Coach Fleur Pawsey the best of luck as she embarks on some new adventures in the world of academia!  Fleur has started her PhD and she is heading off to focus on it full time in 2017. Thanks for being such an awesome coach Fleur and helping out so many people over the last few years.

TeamCP Christmas Holiday Schedule

Christmas is on our back door which means the TeamCP office will be hanging a "Closed" sign on its office door over the Christmas Holidays and Group Sessions will start back up again on 16 Jan 2017.  Our coaching team will continue as required over this time with individually coached CP Athletes working toward 2017 goals. We wish you the best of times with family and friends and look forwarded to hearing about all your adventures in the New Year.  Click here to book into a group session

Road trip Motatapu - 2017... We have one spot left

Mototapu is sneaking up on us, so we are in preparation mode!  We have booked accomodation in Wanaka for the Friday night and you will be dropped to the start line Saturday Morning.  Richard will then drive the Team CP Van to the finish line where he will inevitably lose his voice cheering on all the athletes across the line! Post event accomodation has also been booked for Saturday in Queenstown and we will be hitting the road home on Sunday.
If you are keen to join in on this awesome weekend adventure, please let Richard know!

CP Coaches Final Thoughts  - Drinking

Drinking is super importing and if you don't do it properly it will be the first thing that will slow you down... unfortunately I am not talking about beers by the bbq - that can come later.  What I mean is if you are looking to perform to your best in any running, cycling, triathlon, multisport event you need to stay hydrated.  During the summer months on hot days this becomes even more important as you can loose around a litre an hour in the form of sweat and if you don't replace the fluid that you are loosing there will be a significant effect on your performance after about 30mins.  The fluid loss ends up effecting your blood volume which in turn means that your heart has to pump faster and therefore your bodies ability to deliver oxygen decreases.  This basically means that if you are dehydrated you get puffed faster and have to slow down.
So to see if you are getting this right jump on the scales before and after a hot hard training session (minus any fluid that you have drunk) to find out if you are dehydrated when you finish.  Your goal is to weigh the same as when you started.
To stay hydrated aim for lots of little sips and choose a sports drink if you are in an event lasting over 90mins.  If you drink well then you are giving yourself a chance to perform to your potential and go fast!
