Welcome to our December 2016 newsletter!

Would you like to get more involved in the local community? Why not come along to our FREE volunteer and trustee recruitment event next month to find out more about what we do and how you may be able to help?

Flyer for trustee recruitment meeting
This new service, funded by Basingstoke and Dean Borough Council, offers support to people with mental health issues who have been victims of crime. They can help people to address the emotional and practical consequences of crime and ensure that where necessary, they are put in contact with other specialist services who can help meet their ongoing needs.

Victim Support is an independent charity offering free, confidential support to people affected by crime and traumatic incidents. For information and support, you can telephone their Supportline on 08 08 16 89 111 or visit their website at www.victimsupport.org.uk

Disabled Go will be joining us on 7 February, and representatives from Healthwatch will be our guest speakers at the next get together on 7 March.

Housing survey

Do you have a physical disability? Hampshire County Council would like to hear your views on housing. Click here to take part in their survey.
Basingstoke Roll 2017
This is our annual fundraising event where we raise awareness of everyday difficulties faced by wheelchair users, but have some fun at the same time.

Teams of four - one of whom is pushed by their team mates in a wheelchair - are sponsored to compete in a treasure hunt. All funds raised go to BDDF, which is a small local charity. The event will be held on 1 July 2017 in Castle Square (outside Primark) in Basingstoke.

Please email us at info@bddf.org.uk if:
  • you are part of a local club, team or business and can get a team of four together to take part.
  • you have event management experience and can assist us in organising the Roll.
  • you are interested in having a stall to sell crafts and other items on a busy Saturday afternoon in town.
  • you are a local college student needing work experience in events management for the first half of 2017.
  • you can volunteer some time on the day to help out.
