HAVE A WONDERFUL FESTIVE SEASON!

Everyone at Half Moon would like to wish you the happiest of festive seasons and to thank you for all your support this year, it’s been a fantastic 12 months. Whether you attended our shows, took part in our Creative Learning programmes or Youth Theatres, visited our theatre and gallery, partnered with us, donated to us, or even mentioned us to your friends, we are hugely thankful. 

Last year we:

•    Engaged with over 50,000 people
•    Delivered over 1,500 Creative Learning sessions for almost 23,000 young people
•    Ran 7 weekly drama groups for children and young people
•    Ran 404 artform development sessions with over 50 artists
•    Worked with 70 educational establishments in Tower Hamlets 
•    Delivered professional development training to 75 teachers
•    Hosted 239 work experience sessions and 811 volunteer hours
•    Created 3 in-house productions and 2 co-productions
•    Toured 11 shows into 91 other venues around the country, including 25 libraries
•    Hosted 16 theatre companies from around the UK

Our building (and phones) will be closed from Friday 23 December, and we re-open at 10am on Tuesday 3 January, but don't forget you can still book online (with no booking fee) for all our shows in the new year at www.halfmoon.org.uk.

The Colour of Me

Ages 3-7
Join us in a magical world of colour. Can you feel the excitement of the deep blue sea, the green peacefulness of nature, or bravely go where no child has ever been - inside an orange? But watch out for red, who is sometimes very cross. With live music and projection, this interactive dance theatre performance promises to delight and inspire young audiences.

Pat-a-Cake Baby

Ages 2-8
Are you ready? Grab a spoon! Because it’s pat-a-cake time! Based on the book written by Joyce Dunbar and illustrated by Polly Dunbar, Long Nose Puppets offer up a marvellous moonlit show full of riotous rhyme, zany puppets and special cake; all iced with music and songs by Tom Gray, of Gomez. Little children will feel stuffed to the brim with magic.

Wow! Said the Owl

Ages 2-5

The acclaimed children’s book, by award winning author Tim Hopgood, is brought to life with beautiful storytelling, puppetry and music. Explore the wow-world of colours with this curious little owl who is determined to stay awake to see what daylight brings. From the pink glow of dawn, a day filled with bright colours and, finally, a stunning rainbow — wow!

A Square World

An honest, touching and quirky story of three friends and what happens when an unexpected change throws everyone into disarray. Together they decide to redefine the rules of the square world in which they live and soon discover their lives won’t be square ever again! This delightful story creates an imaginative world where anything can happen.

Youth Theatre spring term dates
With the festive season and New Year celebrations fast approaching, the next few weeks are going to be hectic! So, don’t forget to make a note of the starting dates for the spring term of our seven Youth Theatres - they’ll be here before you know it! The fun begins on Tuesday 17 January for Eclipse and Lunar, Wednesday 18 January for Equinox and Solar, and Saturday 21 January for Comets, Sunbeam and Moonbeam. See you very soon.

Free Film Training
Interested in film and TV? Start 2017 with a unique, free training opportunity, exclusive to Tower Hamlets residents. Applications are open for ZOOM: Futures in creative media – offering an entirely FREE training scheme for sixteen unemployed/low-waged Tower Hamlets residents, aged over 18. Run by Four Corners, training runs January-April 2017, led by industry specialists. The deadline for applications is 12 January and there's an information day on 10 January 2017.
