Greetings!
Welcome to the first newsletter of the Ohio State Food Waste Collaborative. The Collaborative is a collection of researchers, practitioners, and students working together to promote the reduction and redirection of consumer food waste as an integral part of a healthy and sustainable food system.
In August the Collaborative held the “Harnessing Consumers and Communities to Help Meet U.S. Food Waste Reduction Goals,” conference, webinar and networking event - many of you were there! The goal of the event was to convene those interested in reducing and redirecting food waste in their own communities and create opportunities for networking and collaboration. I’m excited to finally share the webinar recordings of that event - please go to u.osu.edu/foodwaste/fwconference/ to watch the webinar recordings, review the agenda and presentations, and see pictures from the event. I hope this is a valuable resource for the work that each of you are doing in your own communities.
Finally, I’m delighted to invite you to visit our new website - u.osu.edu/foodwaste/ - which has been created in partnership with The Ohio State Food Innovation Center. There you can learn more about the Collaborative, our leadership, our members, and news about food waste. In the near future we plan to add information about our ongoing initiatives and research. Please bookmark the website and check back in the future for updates.
We hope you stay in touch.
Best,
Brian Roe
Director of the Ohio State Food Waste Collaborative
