Attention East Beach

The City of White Rock will be doing some erosion repair work on East Beach starting in January. This will take up the row of parking stalls closest to Finlay. The repair work will take around 2-3 weeks.

Meet Kaelynn; Our Administrative Assistant

If you've stopped by our office at 1174 Fir Street, you may have met our White Rock BIA Assistant, Kaelynn Ball. Here is a chance to get to know her a little better.

Kaelynn has grown up in White Rock and has seen the small city change as each year passes by. She has fond memories of the festivals and events in White Rock from when she was young. Her nostalgia and optimism was a help with her when she started with White Rock Tourism assisting with special events, and Tourism Counselling. Since early 2015 she has worked alongside many events and festivals in the White Rock Community. Earlier this year, she started working with the WRBIA and involved herself with the TD Concerts at the Pier Series and other summer events in White Rock. Kaelynn has a passion for community and especially enjoys helping plan local events and aiding with social media. Her family has always been very involved with art and she has aspirations to work in the Graphic Design field. Currently she teaches piano and you can find her smile at our office 5 days a week.

White Rock gets its very own BEER!

White Rock Beach Beer Company was born over an ice-cold beer on the White Rock Beach. Peter Adams asked Bill Haddow,
“Why are we not drinking White Rock Beer?”
and the rest became history for these entrepreneurs. One of the most interesting things I discovered when speaking with Bill is that White Rock Beach Beer was developed by three high school teachers who  taught at Hugh Boyd Secondary School in Richmond. These entrepreneurs saw an opportunity and ran with the idea. White Rock Beach Beer Company is now owned and operated by Bill Haddow and Peter Adams.

One thing I have noticed since my voyage back to White Rock from Alberta, is that our community's residents are proud and passionate about being from White Rock. And rightfully so! We should be proud to have our very own microbrewery in the city! White Rock Beach Beer Company brew the majority of their beer and always use their very own recipes.

White Rock Beach Beer Company has been in business for two and half years now, and have crushed some major goals. They are now set up in their new tasting lounge at 15183 Russell Avenue in White Rock and should have their lounge license very soon. This means they will be able to offer more beverages and serve food. When entering their establishment you can expect a quaint "surfers' paradise" feel. The vibe is extremely friendly and laid back with passionate craft beer lovers from all walks of life. On tap you can expect some of White Rock Beach Beer Company’s usual favourites like their “West Beach Pale Ale" and "East Beach Brown Ale.” In the Fall and Winter you can expect to see their “Border Porter.” In the Spring and Summer you can expect their seasonal beer the "Oxford Hill Hefeweizen." Their lounge also has a featured tap where they support other breweries and bring in their beer to be featured on a regular rotation.

You can support our local brewery in many ways. Why not plan to stop by their lounge and enjoy an ice-cold beer? You can try one of their signature beers at Kahunas Fish & Chips, Jan’s on the Beach, Jimmy Flynn's or Crescent Beach Yacht Club. Restaurant owners can order a keg of White Rock Beach Beer Company’s beer at their restaurants. Feel like staying in? Try picking up a growler from their lounge and experience local beer in the comfort of your own home. If you stay tuned you can check out one of their events and pick up some of their branded apparel. Simplest of all, you can spread awareness that White Rock has it’s very OWN Micro Brewery: White Rock Beach Beer Company.

Happy Tasting!
