OpenEye Scientific Software

Dear Colleagues,

The 17th edition of our Customers, Users and Programmers meeting (CUP) will occur on March 6th-8th, 2017 in Santa Fe, NM at the Inn and Spa at Loretto. Monday will see talks on the status of our cloud platform, Orion, including presentations by early adopters, followed by updates on our science and software. Tuesday and Wednesday will see sessions on "Practical Quantum Mechanics", "Macrocycles", "Protein Modeling" and a session on "Things I Wish Academia Would Pay More Attention To". The latter is an attempt to engage both industry and academia in a debate on what computational advances (other than affinity prediction) would make the most impact. Preliminary session order and confirmed speakers can be found below.

At our last CUP, in addition to the spectacular Levinthal lecture from Phil Bourne of the NIH, we had a very popular Monday night "State of the Industry" talk by Guy Breitenbucher from Dart. Seeing a tradition worth continuing, this year we are delighted to have Cathy Peishoff, recently retired from GSK, give this talk, while Kim Branson, of the medical informatics start-up Lumiata, gives this year's Levinthal Lecture. There are still several speaking slots available and, of course, we will have our ever-popular poster session.

As with last year, we have a number of "Penny J. Gilmer" travel grants for women graduate students and post-docs in the USA or Canada. Details can be found on the CUP registration page: www.eyesopen.com/events-cup-17.

Look forward to seeing you in Santa Fe!

Anthony
