Chanukkah Cookies For a Cause:  Mini-Mitzvah Afternoon for School-Age Children
THIS FRIDAY, December 23, 2016, 2:30 - 4:30 p.m., Social Hall

Calling all school-age kids!  School's out early on this day, so let's get together with friends to decorate Chanukkah cookies for a cause.  We'll decorate edible dreidels and chanukkiahs to take home, an also for the guests this week of the Interfaith Rotating Winter Shelter (IRWS).

Please bring with you a clean, new or gently used scarf, pair of gloves or hat to add to our gift bags for the IRWS guests.  Small donations to cover the cost of the cookie materials are appreciated.  Either cash or checks made to the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund are acceptable.

This event is appropriate for children in Kindergarten or older.  Children need to be accompanied by a designated, supervising adult.  For more information, please contact CBH Partner
Sharon Richman by clicking her name.

Also, plan to stay for the potluck, Pre-Hanukkah sing-a-long and Shabbat service following this activity; see more details
here!

Saturday, December 31, 2016, 6:00 p.m., Redwood Grove

Opportunities still may be available for your committee, group, havurah or simply gather of family or friends take a turn illuminating our large-scale, handcrafted, forged metal hanukkiah.  The committment is 30 minutes or less, and you're encouraged to invite as many friends and family members as you wish to take part.  Large diameter candles and a copy of the blessings will be provided; bring your own matches or lighter.  Sign-up now!  All CBH partners are invited to take part in the candle lighting each night at 6:00 p.m., regardless of whether or not they are part of the group that is responsible for the hanukkiah that evening.

Presented to CBH last December by our friends at Adat Or Israel, a community of Spanish-speaking & bilingual Jews in Santa Maria, CA, this unique hanukkiah was made by a congregant's father in Mexico, in appreciation of our gift of a Torah to Adat Or Yisrael when we finished scribing a new Torah to mark our 50th anniversary in Decemeber 2012.  Learn more about CBH's special relationship with Adat Or Israel here.

Heart and Spirit Chant Circle
 THIS MONDAY, December 26, 2016, 7:00 - 8:45 p.m., Sanctuary

Are you curious to try chanting?  Or have you long felt that chant helps you to deepen your spiritual experience?

If you answered yes above, please join CBH partners Hallie Morrow and Carrie Shepard as they share chants written by Rabbi Shefa Gold.  These chants offer a unique way to access our spiritual selves through short texts from the Tanach paired with powerful melodies.  Participants do not need a musical background, just an openness to experience the power of chant.

The Heart and Spirit Chant Circle meets on the fourth Monday of each month.  No pre-registration required.  For more information, contact
Carrie or Hallie by clicking their names.  Also, to learn more about ongoing Heart and Spirit Chant Circle programs at CBH, including the monthly Contemplative Shabbat Service, please see this flyer.  For more information about Rabbi Shefa Gold, please click here
