Joseph, our Central Asian teaching pastor was frustrated. He was visiting a home to share the Good News of Christ with the lady of the house. She had very politely kept the appointment he made with her and served him tea with the traditional hospitality of Central Asia, but she was not responding to his words.
He truly believed God led him to make this appointment, but Joseph was beginning to think he had misunderstood what God wanted. Then one of the men in the house began to ask questions. The man had only recently been released from prison and the hope Joseph was offering to the hostess touched the heart of the ex-convict. God had inspired Joseph to make the appointment, but Joseph hadn’t realized who God’s target was!
Joseph and the recently-released prisoner talked for a long time, but Joseph’s answers only inspired new questions. Joseph and the man agreed to meet again after the man had time to think over the things Joseph had revealed to him. Perhaps you’ve been praying for Leyla, an Azerbaijani woman living in Siberia. A few months ago we shared a letter from her, thanking us for our prayers. Her son was miraculously returned from fighting with Islamic radicals in Syria after she called to ask for our prayers. Even her son was able to realize what a miracle this was.
Leyla became a secret Believer who stayed in touch with Tarana, the co-host of Sweet Conversations, our Azerbaijani Women’s Talk Show. Ignoring the horrors he’d seen, the son decided he would return to Syria, but his mother continued to pray for his safety and salvation. Before the son could get away, the police came and took him to prison for his links to radical Islam. Leyla’s prayers had been answered, even if it was not in the way she had imagined they would be. Sometimes God goes to extreme measures to answer our prayers, like Leyla’s son getting arrested. This time He had a son arrested to protect him from his own foolishness. Now Leyla has been given more time to reach out to her son with the love of Jesus Christ.
Please continue to pray for Leyla, her son, and her husband. Since her son’s incarceration, Leyla’s husband found about her secret faith and there is trouble at home. God can resolve all these problems if we pray for this family to be united in faith as Believers in Jesus Christ.

Meet Shawn - Soon to be a Video Missionary to Iran
Shawn was the wayward son of the manager of the LA Dodgers, Kevin Malone. After a violent argument with his father, a drug-impaired Shawn drove away from home and caused a horrendous automobile accident. Shawn survived the accident, but only barely. The ordeal that followed resulted in a marvelous miracle and now Shawn and Kevin’s story is part of a wonderful documentary. The English version of this 21-minute video may be something you will want to forward to your friends.
Kevin Malone has partnered with GHM to dub this video into Farsi and we have the funds we need to do it. When the dubbing is done, the video will be broadcast via two satellite systems to Iran. We wanted to share the English version with you and ask you to pray with us as we work on this important project.
