SNO Recognized for Social Innovation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — December 19, 2016

BALTIMORE, MD — Symphony Number One was recognized by the Warnock Foundation for their work to promote social good through music and serve all of Baltimore. SNO Music Director Jordan Randall Smith was named among the 10  Baltimore Social Innovation Fellows of the Winter 2016 class. With the added funding and support from the foundation, Symphony Number One will be giving free concerts across West Baltimore in February and March 2017.

Smith sat down with award-winning journalist Lisa Simeone:

“We have to be citizens of this city,” Smith says. “We have to acknowledge our position. How do we break into the red lines that have been drawn around neighborhoods? How can we converse with people? We do it through music.”
